Lane Johnson Vs Parsons

My take away from this is the league is very competitive, but at the top echelon of players you have to believe they have gameplans for you.

I’m certain coaches have this information. Now how many teams have a tackle like Lane Johnson that can go one on one against anyone with this info? Micah isn’t worried.

Cliff notes for those that can't watch the video right now, or for those that do not want to.
Do we need to hear an Eagles player talk for almost 10 minutes.

This dude needs to get to the point. I felt like I was in a 10 minute click bait loop listening to him talk. And after all that I don't think anything he had to offer was really that earth shattering. I am sure the Cowboys coaches and Micah himself have studied the tape and have seen exactly what Johnson was doing.

A while back I saw an article that claimed Johnson did not give up a sack all year and I thought I recalled at least one he gave up to Micah. So I went back and reviewed the Cowboys Eagles games to see if I was right. I was wrong. The sack was from 2023. But in watching Johnson against Micah what I saw was when Johnson was 1 on 1 with Micah, Hurts got rid of the ball quickly so Micah never had a chance to beat Johnson. A few times Micah did beat him but the ball was out before Micah got to Hurts - quick throws. If Hurts was going to hold the ball, Johnson had help from another lineman or a TE or RB. I am pretty sure most teams play Micah this way. This is what makes Micah a top rusher. Offenses change their game plans just for him.

I am taking nothing away from Lane Johnson, but If he had to go against Micah one on one the entire game without help, Micah would get his sacks.

Having Fowler and EZ applying pressure in their one on one matchups has the potential to really put offensive protection schemes in a bind

But it all starts with stopping the run and putting teams in long down and distance situations in order to pin their ears back

We have simply refused to acquire the personnel to make that a priority— so I imagine we will see what we have always seen since Micah joined the team:

When we have a lead and control the clock, we will see lots of sacks and turnovers and runaway scores. When our offense struggles and teams commit to running the ball against our soft run D, we will see us in close games and often lose.

I hope I am wrong, but nothing this team has done this offseason gives me reason to believe they are set up to stop the run in a more significant way than previous years

I think every teams has a gameplan for Micah. The issue is not to focus on Micah, but rather what the heck are the other players doing if Micah is getting the attention.

This is nothing other than players trying to help each other, Literally nothing secretive just tips on tendencies amd how to play him. They do the same for every elite pass rusher. Baldy screwed the porch by publishing it.

Ive watched Parsons play all year and I can tell you he gets held constantly but doesn't get the call. Refs were probably told by the league too many penalties slow the game down.

Lane is a stud but I still say he quick steps before the snap, and is never called for false start, on almost every single drop back….
They were cracking down on some of this last year you saw it more often It wasn't just the early start it's the way they're lining up too far in the backfield to counter guys like Parsons they literally started copying what lane johnson was doing and he was lining up with his outside leg I mean literally it looked like he was staring at the sideline his other foot way off the line and at least they're trying to crack down on that now...

I mean Johnson was one of the best tackles to ever play but Parsons has got him one on one plenty of times and like people have talked about above you got to get the ball out quick and they were doing so you dump off the ball quick hitters you try to run everything away from guys like him and it happens you can stop guys like Parsons if nobody else on your team can make them pay for it...

I realize it looks like Parsons is a ghost in big games but that's because they're taking him out and the Cowboys aren't making him pay think about it this whole playoff thing or big games TJ Watt0-4 i sack in the payoffs..

I've looked it up same thing with Miles Garrett and Joey Bosa these are some of the best pass rushers in the NFL and they're being taken out of big games you game plan for people like them you have to have somebody on your defense as well as your coaches to know that's going to happen and they got to take advantage of it in the middle or on the other side somebody else should be eating when your best is being over game planned for..

Exactly. If the Cowboys had a dominant DT playing next to Parsons, he would see fewer double and triple teams.
I don't know how we can get a dominant DT right now, but I would like to see his team mates take advantage of the attention they give Micah.

If you get mostly one on ones with your opponent while the line is tilted towards Micah do something about it!

Thank You.

Not doing it.

Remember the first game last year on Thursday and the Chiefs tackle was moving like crazy way before the snap and no calls. I know Flozell Adams is like really.
I remember that. Johnson got away with it because he was able to time it damn near exact with Kelce snapping the ball. You get that timing after playing a decade with the same people. To have two guys play on the same line for over ten years together these days in almost unheard of. I can't think of two o-lineman that can say the same in recent memory except for Tyron and Zack.

Game plan against Micah is not complicated

1. LB playing DE.
2. He will get the sack here or there because of speed
3. Run the ball right at him and block him hard and be physical and he will disappear
