Most people know about Larry Allen and his 700lbs bench press. There is a story about it back in 2001 that is just crazy to read and I figured I would share it with those that haven't read it.

It's crazy, this man's supersets was curling 150lbs dumbbells, 500lbs bench presses, 495lb squats, 405lbs back pulls, and 100lbs dumbbell shoulder presses! Doing that many lifts in a row without rest (a superset), no freaking wonder at 326lbs, he only had 11% bodyfat! :lmao2:

=========================================

700-pound bench press makes Cowboys OL Allen noteworthy powerlifter too

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) — Larry Allen is already respected throughout the NFL as one of the best offensive linemen. Soon, the powerlifting community may start taking note of him, too.

Allen recently bench pressed 700 pounds, 65 more than the career-best he lifted last summer and well into the world-class level.

Put another way, Allen lifted about 30 pounds more than the combined weight of Baltimore tackles Tony Siragusa and Sam Adams. It's also more than the combined playing weight of Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin.

The truly amazing part is how easily Allen did it.

“I just got under it, hit it hard and got it off my chest,” the 6-foot-3, 326-pound Allen said, shrugging his mammoth shoulders. “I think I could've gotten more.”

Complete Story

I almost wish he'd retired a few seasons before he did...because his last couple of years he wasn't the same.

That man could MAUL.

I always thought Dat Nguyen and Dexter Coakley's +525lb bench press totals were as impressive.

Larry Allen has never been 11% body fat in his life, believe that. He was a very strong man, but you're implying he had about 295 pounds of lean mass, lol.

I don't care what Joe J. said - Larry Allen was never 11% body fat.

Well, 11% of 326 pounds is over 32 pounds of fat! Now while that doesn't look good on any of us 180-220 pound guys, most of it could just have been concentrated on his belly.

I think it's possible.

Just so you know, 11% body fat is just above the point where you start to see your abs visibly, which means basically no belly fat, and full striation of the shoulders and chest. Now go look at Larry Allen during his playing days. I'm not hating on Larry in any way, but most O-Linemen would be considered thin at 15-17%. They carry a ton of fat on them because eating like a horse is the only way to stay as strong as they do, and they aren't bodybuilders who eat strict diets.

You're absolutely right. There are WRs and CBs in this league playing at 11% body fat. No way LA was that.

Circa 2003 Larry Allen's body fat was way more than 11%.

The first half of his career, he was the best OL that I've ever seen. The 2nd half, he was lazy, overweight, and overrated.
