Austin was open both times in the back of the endzone....

He sure was, and Romo's head never even once looked off Hurd either time. And after each incompletion, Austin threw his arms up like, 'Dude?!'

We already went over this in length after the game. It got stuck in the post game thread.

But yeah, Tony was locked in on Hurd and never glanced at Miles who had a step on the first slant and 2 steps on the 2nd slant.

Austin didn't give him any confidence after that INT, and Hurd made a something out of nothing a few plays before - just my opinion. Besides who has better hands Hurd or Austin?

I saw a video clip of the plays, sure makes you wonder about Romo's decision making process.I'm kinda wondering if Romo was boycotting Austin because of the snafu earlier in the game.

...covered by Champ nontheless...just pathetic execution, playcalling or whatever. Also, Witten was kept in to block...for crying out loud, send your best receiver into the endzone.

The defense knew, before the snap, what the play would be. Garrett is as predictable as Romo's audibles and reads. The Broncos had double coverage in Hurd's part of the filed on both of those plays. They left Austin uncovered to do it. Garrett (and Romo for not audibleing out) were baited into those two plays. That's what happens to medicore coaches and players; that's how they find ways to lose.

anyone got a relay of this...

I dont understand why they would get crayton to run a slant to when he could of done a quick out and picked the DB that was on Austin..that would of been a easy td and ive seen that play run successfully thousands of time..

Austin may have been open, but who knows if he was where he was supposed to be, or, if he would have been there when the ball got there.

actually hurd said in the postgame that Tony made the right read and two perfect passes, he said he stuttered and didnt drive hard enough on the second one and said he should have had it.

Austin let romo down earlier in the game, but I dont think that is why he went to hurd. I think he saw hurd open and and believed he would make the play.

I think that's exactly what Crayton did. On the first play he runs an out to the left sideline, freeing up Austin (we're talking wide open). The second time, they both ran slants to the right, so the area was a little more crowded with Crayton and his defender roaming around, but Austin was again open nonetheless. Crayton appeared covered pretty handily both times.

Total fabrication. That was a typically inacurrate throw by Romo...Austin never had a chance on that throw. :banghead:

Whatever the case those two were never on the same page from the beginning so it still didn't give Romo the confidence that he needed to trust him.

What type of route is that he ran? I agree. Romo overthrew all game. But that INT was on Miles. Didn't Miles admit as much?

Well, we'll probably never know for sure, but I'm pretty sure Austin broke the wrong way on the interception. Romo threw to the outside and Austin went inside. Romo was off today, but he wasn't that off on a relatively short pass. The two just weren't on the same page.

According to some guys in the locker room, they said Austin was not where he was supposed to be.

Matt Mosley reported:
"Several people in the locker room told me that Miles Austin turned the wrong direction on the route and that it wasn't Romo's fault, but it was still a huge play."

He stopped, romo was expecting him to keep going.

Just like crayton on the opening drive and I believe roy williams on that pass that went behind him. I think romo was expecting roy to sit down and catch the ball and roy kept running.

again, if austin continues running he is open and should make a play there.

so you ignore a open wr in the end zone because he screwed up a route earlier in the game?

so your plan is not to throw it to the open man but to try and see if your number 4 wr can beat champ bailey one of the best cover corners in the league

oh ok makes sense. got you

The underlying problem is these WRs just don't give Romo any confidence at all...just because Austin is open does he come up with the catch? He did drop a perfect slant pass when we played the Raiders during pre-season right?
