I wouldn’t touch Smith in the 1st or maybe even top 50. Have read multiple scouting reports questioning his eyes and instincts. As of now he’s a better athlete than football player.

9 TFL’s and 5 PBU’s this year are pretty good signs of instincts, play recognition, and spatial awareness for a LB.

Bummer, no LT? I understand tho, it wasn't worth the reach. I'm just so ready to replace a player that we can't count on week to week. I'm so over it.

Would like to know what other receivers were available in the 2nd round because taking Romeo Doubs at that point is a bit too rich for my blood.

I do like the Brandon Smith pick at the backend of Round 1.

Doubs is ranked 60 on simulator. Next WR was Ross #74 from Clemson and he tore ACL earlier this season I believe.

TE I’d be targeting in the 3rd round would be Cole Turner from Nevada. Elite ball skills. Will be interesting to see how he performs at the Combine.

Id disagree, its a few numbers in a box score that’s just a piece of the puzzle. There are multiple scouting reports questioning his eyes and instincts which is equally important to the LBr position to athleticism.

It’s Kenneth Murray all over again…everyone loved his combine and tackle numbers but ignored instincts being a weakness and now he’s a 1st round LBr that is mediocre. Can’t miss in the 1st like that.

Brandon Smith went to the combine already?

What does that have to do with anything? He’s going to test out of this world that’s a given.

Your trying to make it sound like he’s just a workout warrior with no LB/football instincts. He’s not Micah but people questioned his instincts and ability to diagnose because he had only played 2 years of LB.

This online “scout” compared Micah to Myles Jack who has 6.5 sacks in his 6 year career. Hilarious :)

Yeah, I do remember in the pre-dratt FG run up last year numerous people where citing internet scouting reports about Parsons lack of instincts and concluding he was another Jaylon.

It’s hard to imagine Smith being the BPA even at the end of round 1. Physically he has it all but he’s not remotely the prospect Parsons was. Loyd and Dean are the only LB’s I would consider taking in round 1 if available.

I would agree with that. I think he’s a solid 2nd rounder.

I never questioned Parsons instincts…he had exceptional instincts coming out against the run and as a pass rusher. His question mark was lack of reps in pass coverage which was fair because he hadn’t done it a lot. His instincts were a plus and when you paired that with his athleticism that’s what made him a blue chip prospect.

Some people on here were questioning for his instincts, which was crazy to me, but I wasn’t one of them.

Not a good comparison IMO.

Yah, I see Smith as a top 100 prospect but nowhere near a 1st rounder.

Lloyd and Dean are fringe 1st rounders for me…probably ok considering where we’re picking depending on who else is available.

How many players are graded as first rounders in your typical draft?
