Lesson 1: After last year we fired Ryan. A lot of the fans said he was made a scapegoat and pointed to the team he fielded.
Today many want to fire Kiffen. The fans are making him their scapegoat because they refuse to beleive the obvious truth right in their face: the cowboys aren't that talented. Fs, ss, ncb, mlb, olb, DT, DT, de, de <= all of those spots were being played at some point by people who suck too much to make any other teams roster. Seriously, at one point Heath, Hamilton and perlin were all playing in our secondary...... Along with 4 guys picked up off the street across the DL. No wonder we couldn't stop the pass or run.
Lesson 2: There is a long running joke about Jerry and his shiny toys. The fans have fallen prey too that same thinking.
"we have Dez, Romo and Witten! We should be unstoppable!"
Shiny toy syndrome. We also have two OGs that nobody else wanted (udfa, cut back up) and a RT who can only play decent if he has an all pro guard next to him. Do I like the play calling? No. Do I think its absolutely criminal how they are using Bryant? Yes. But I also understand that you can't utilize your shiny toys if your QB is constantly getting hit. And for as tough as Romo is, he is just as prone to get rattled as any other QB that's under duress.
until we build the trenches on both sides of that ball, and seriously upgrade our talent base/depth, the coaching staff will continue to be scapegoats to the Fans, Media and Jones... All because we have a few shiny toys and those parties think we are "talented".
