Last night's play calling

This has been mentioned a bit in other threads but I wanted to see what some of the film guru's here thought about it.

Last night it seemed we went with a very basic offense and defense. I am wondering if we haven't been gameplanning for the Patriots, and just threw something together for the bills since we expected to man handle them.

Offense:
Now I haven't gone back and looked at the game again (not sure if I want to) but it looked like we were not doing what we have the past 4 games. I didn't see TO get moved around a lot. We didn't throw a slant or quick slant that I can think of. I don't remembe TO playing in the slot or motioning out of the backfield.

Defense:
Again this is just shooting from memory, but I don't remember seeing any stunts or twists by the D line. The only real blitz I remember was the CB blitz by reeves (who is turning out to be a great bliltzer). We just didn't throw a lot of fancy stuff at the Bills on defense either.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I noticed it too. Seems more of a Parcell's type gameplan.

The play calling was appaling last night. When they kicked the ball out of bounds on the two, we ran twice and then put Romo in jeopardy by having to throw on 3rd and long from the two. He sailed the pass over Witten's head and the Bills scored. Where was the screen, the slant, the motion that places T.O. in different spots of the lineup?? Garret did not adjust at all and we looked vanilla and soft on offense. Our defense was OK but not great. We had very little real pressure on their QB. Where was Ellis? He was invisible all night. Bobby Carpenter is a joke. Our coverage teams are awful. If we play like that on Sunday we will get crushed.

I would like to see more inside blitzes from Ware and Spencer. It seems that every time they rush from the outside they over pursue and take themselves out of the play.

I love the aggressive play calling by Garrett, and the fact that we're going downfield more than we did under Parcells. However, we can't do that all the time. We need to throw to checkdowns more often. We need to throw some screen passes, etc. We can't call evey single pass play to get 20 yards. Sometimes you just have to take what the defense gives you. We were very poor at doing this last night.

Good coaches always gameplan ahead of time, and I believe that the gameplan last night was completely conservative as to not expose the full repertoire before the game against the Pats.

We will be ready for the Pats, but the offense will look different. I don't believe the Cowboys even watched film of the Bills.

I think the Bills' game plan surprised us-we pretty much KNEW going in they would play alot of soft zones with their back 7 depleted, but then they came out showing "fake blitzes", and it ended up confusing the heck out of us for some reason.

Still-we KNEW their back 7 was depleted, I still have no idea how we got "confused".

I don't think coaches really gameplan for having their QB throw INTs like its going out of style. I think they coaches just wanted to keep things from getting uglier then it already was.

last night seemed to be the seattle game all over again. a defensive secondary depleted by injuries yet we somehow cannot exploit it. very frustrating!

Nate Jones is the one that's been blitzing lately. He's a nice player, he's always around the ball too. He was there to cover up on both the Newman fumble and the onside kick.

TO did play in the slot a few times. What I noticed most about the game was last night was 1st down. In the past, we have started out throwing to open things up on 1st down, but last night we ran a lot more on 1st down than normal. Part of that could be because of Romo's bad start, but I don't know how getting stuffed on 1st & 2nd down and then having to throw on 3rd could help your QB.
