We've all heard Marinelli and now Stephen and Jerry say you can find a 1 tech DT later in the draft. So lets look for a Marinelli 1 tech. Marinelli likes quick strong DTs that play with leverage and strength. Looking at his previous players he prefers 300-310 DTs over the bigger heavier DTs.

So lets play match maker.
Posting some combine numbers, combine metrics, and production ratios.

Those are three that meet had the most targets meet. Who else do you like as a late round 1 Tech DT?

I like Justin Ellis; although he is bigger than previous DL that Marinelli has had. If this guy and Nix had switched schools, they would also be switched in draft positions, IMO.

Kerr & Ellis are too heavy for Marrinelli's scheme unless he is adapting a new philosophy more like Seattle's. I'd also look into Garrison Smith - NT 6'3" 299lbs UGA & Tenny Palepoi - DT 6'1" 303lbs - Utah.
Smith reminds me of a Ratliff type steal in the 7th & Palepoi fits both the production & size of a typical Rod 1-tech based off of his previous Bears Rosters

Shamar Thomas is the best fit in my opinion. Strong, long arms, and can move and get after the qb.

I do like Bromley too but I think he's more of a 3 tech
