The 49ers have been taking advantage of this lately and its really a good strategy. Grab guys in late rounds who would have gone much higher if not for getting injured this year.
Vinnie Sunseri, S, Bama- Currently projected as a 5th rounder- No clue why he came out after missing most of the year and still having a year of eligibility left. None the less, he could represent a great value in the 5th. Very talented kid and coaches son.
Spencer Long, G, Nebraska- Currently projected as a 6th/7th rounder- 2nd team all-american last year and was on the short list for the outland trophy before tearing his acl the 1st game of the season. Solid as they come and extremely hard working (former walk on), probably would have been a 3rd rounder if not for the injury.
Ben Gardner, DE, Stanford- Currently projected as a 5th/6th rounder- Played in only 8 games this season and had 7.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 9 hurries, 1 forced fumble, and 1 punt block. Big and strong as an ox. Smart and an absolute grinder. Great guy to have in any d line rotation
Silas Redd, RB, USC- Currently projected as a 7th rounder- Being from the northeast and a big PSU fan I had such high hopes for Silas. Unfortunately things went wrong at PSU and then he went to USC and got hurt for a lot of his time there. Obviously I dont have the medicals on his knee, but if there is no serious structural damage I think he's definitely worth taking a flier on. Averaged over 5 yards per carry in almost 600 carries throughout his college career.
Anybody have their own to add? I'm sure there's a few more that I missed
