In an apparent philosophical shift, the Jets are seriously considering drafting Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler in the first round of the April draft should they trade down from the fourth pick overall, according to someone with knowledge of the team's thinking.

The 49ers likely are off the list of possible suitors for Dolphins running back Ricky Williams. San Francisco coach Mike Nolan, head coach for the South team at the Senior Bowl, said Thursday he didn't think his team would be particularly interested. There has been speculation he might be willing to trade down from the No. 7 spot. The Dolphins might be interested in that spot if a quarterback, such as Jay Cutler, were available.

Mike Holmgren's wife, Kathy, will be an ocean away when the Seahawks play in the Super Bowl a week from Sunday, trying to make a world of difference. She will travel to the Congo on an aid mission, and her husband wouldn't have it any other way. The trip was Mike's Christmas present to his wife, and the plans were made four months ago.
