According to nick eatman latest blog, contract talks between drew brees and his agent and new orleans are being rushed so the saints can franchise nicks. Doesn't look good for him to hit open market

Yeah, he would actually help us, so it seems counter-productive to the Cowboys' FO. :bang2:

In order of value and need, I saw Campbell, Nicks and Carr as the best possible FA addtions for the Cowboys. All three and we'd be gold, but I seriously doubted any of the three would ever hit FA.

I just don't see how they can get it all done. They'll have to really start shaking up some contracts to free up enough space to keep all their free agents.

I think Carr will, but I don't sign a CB in free agency until the price tag goes down. If Jenkins has another solid year at CB (he's a free agent after this year), are you going to shell out another big contract for a corner? If there's a bargain for a solid CB in free agency, take it, if not, draft 2 CB's in the draft and hope for the best.

Brees will make sure the team signs Nicks. I think those two are locks to stay. The rest of their FAs will probably have to accept less than they maybe expected to stay.

Would not be surprised if this happens. The Saints are trying to win another Superbowl now and keeping their O-line together even for another year gives them a legitimate shot.

While there has been alot of discussions about potential Free Agents the Cowboys should got after, the key word is "potential". Alot of the upper tier guys may be retained by their current teams.

I think it's just wishfull thinking by fans instead of a true interest by the team . Too much money involved to plug one hole when there ae many holes to fill .

Kamerion Wimbley is rumored to become a free agent. I would love for him to replace Spencer.

When I said I felt Nicks would not hit the open market people acted like I was crazy. I would love to have the guy and I'm sure Drew Brees feels the same way. :laugh2:

My personal opinion?

Drew Brees is looking to get paid, and paid extremely well.

His agenda has been clear since before the lockout.

There's a big reason he was front and center during that process and it wasn't for the benefit of his fellow players.

I definitely think that the Saints would like to get Brees' deal done and then franchise tag Nicks.

But I continue to question whether they will actually be able to accomplish it.

Until Brees signs and they Franchise Nicks, I will continue to want him here.

I am glad you said that instead of me. The drama if I had would have gone through the roof.

He would come to Dallas and become Leonard Davis Part 2 anyways. Get Scott Wells and draft a good guard.

I hope you are right. I think others under value the importance of the position. Same when talking about the draft and DeCastro.

Nicks is nothing close to Leonard Davis.

Leonard Davis was an underachieving tackle who didn't live up to expectations in Arizona.

Carl Nicks is considered the best guard in football and he's the safest thing out there.

Also the most expensive thing out there too...

I'm starting to think that's the direction the Cowboys will go.
