What are the chances these guys make the team or practice squad? Did I hear correctly on Hard Knocks that Lowber was recommended by the elder Garrett?

I think Lowber makes the practice squad. Given his physical skills and his relative lack of experience he has all the makings of the next wide receiver project.

It would take injuries to Felix Jones or Tashard Choice for Lattimore to make the team. I think Dallas will want to put him on the practice squad if they can and if he wants to be in Dallas.

Lowber was referred to Dallas by the elder Garrett. He has no chance of being on the team this year. He will see the PS more than likely.

Yes, Papa Garrett loves the athletic ability of Lowber and feels they should be able to make him into a football player. Of course, it's not that easy.

lattimore is pretty kuik on that cilp that they showed on harnocks...the coaches kept on rewinding it.....good cuts and vision there

Was anyone else a little nervous about the way Garrett was gushing over Lowber, combined with the news yesterday from Broaddus about how influenced Jerry is by his old buddies? I mean, Garrett said Henson was the next Troy Aikman, too.

I don't think it'll be a problem in this case, because we don't have room for him on this roster. But come on, there are Lowbers everywhere -- guys who are great athletes but can't play a lick. I hated to see Garrett going on about what a tragedy it would be if he didn't get a chance.

Not really. I think most teams see the guy as a total kook at this point.

I don't see the harm if it has to do with a player like Lowber. You pay scouts like Garrett to unearth diamonds in the rough. If it is just a practice squad position, what is the harm? It is not like we are investing a roster spot, at which time I could relate to the concern.

We made a living back in the 1970s with players like this. If it is just one practice squad player, take a chance. I wouldn't go and create room on the roster if someone came around looking at him, however.

Sorta sucks that these two guys seems to be giving it their all and may not make it. And (from what we get to see anyway), Bennett seems to be going at things half-assed and will likely make it.

I didn't mean that other teams would see this and grab him... I meant that back in the day, this is the kind of guy who Jerry might have decided to keep in favor of someone who was actually producing.

Like I said, in this particular case I don't think it matters. But if we didn't have a strong team, I could see Jerry being influenced enough by his old scout/buddy/confidant to make a bad decision.

I think I interpreted your post as suggesting that others might grab him if we tried to slide him on the PS. I had just responded to something similar about Amendola in another thread so may have brought that perspective with me.

You are right though -- Jerry has been a real sucker for raw talent and with Lowber's size he does fall in that category.

both players will be lucky to make the practice squad at this point. Lowber having the hardest of the 2 to make it. i think Amendola is way ahead of him.

I want him to succeed, but it's highly unlikely with us. I hope he doesn't make the team to be honest with you. One project (Stanback) is more than enough for the team.

on effort alone, lowber and lattimore should be on that team if a player like bennett gets in, im really starting to dislike him, and it doesnt help that im a UT fan

Neither make the final 53. Lattimore has a better chance at the PS.

Lowber won't be anything more than a PS player. Lattimore is more likely to end up there unless another team like oh the Ravens decide to give him a chance.
