what do you think about trading julius jones for a 1st and 2nd round draft pick?

then we could use one of those picks to draft laurence.

he's a great player and marion and laurence in the backfield together again would be simply awesome!

i'm not bashing julius, i'm just concerned that he might be injury prone and a little inconsistent.

i highly doubt that we would get a 1st and a 2nd. at best we would get a 2nd. i don't think many teams would trade a first for a rb that has not been able to be healthy for a full season

You couldn't get a first for Julius, let alone a first and second.

I like JJ where he is. We're set at RB... we don't need to go creating holes to fill... we have enough already.

JJ and MB3 make one of the best RB tandems in the NFL IMO. Just give em an O-line to work with.

ok......no first round pick, but at least a high second.

i think maroney may be better than marion.

Who is going to give us a first and second for Julius when they could draft LM themselves and save a draft pick?

that's correct, I think so too. Maroney is a workhorse, everydown back. MBIII probably couldn't make it a full season as an everydown guy.

We would never get fair value in a trade involving Julius because his ability has been masked by injury and the ineptness on the OL the past two years. We should keep him, hire a new OL coach and rebuild the OL.

Hey Lane, the offseason just barely started. Don't go reaching already.

Maroney is the break away guy with pretty shifty moves, Marion is neither of that.
I've watched all the gopher games and I was a big Maroney fan last year, but he really did not look like the same back this year. Heck, he wasn't even the best back on the team. He definetly lost speed this year. You don't want him...not for a first anyways.

wrong answer billy bob.

Oh is it? Because since when does potential get you that kind of return on a trade for a running back who is unproven in terms of durability.

Look at it this way:

-Jones was a second round pick.
-Jones has been very good when healthy
-Jones has been injured and missed significant time in both of his seasons here

Conclusion, while he has proven that when healthy he can be a very good back, he hasn't proven that he can stay healthy. So by giving up a 1 and 2, you are throwing ALOT at a guy who is flashing mostly POTENTIAL. And that my friend, is what the draft is all about, POTENTIAL. 1st and 2nd rounders are supposed to be starters in this league, quality starters, and I dont see anyone giving that up for Jones.

By the way, if we were to get Maroney, why wouldnt the team that gives us this deal just take Maroney, and keep their 2 in the process?
