This is going to have 1 of 2 affects on this draft in particular and I'm curious as to everyone's opinions. Does it

A) Push players like Bosa and Spence up the board out of sheer need?

Or

B) Remove them completely from our plans due to drug concerns of their own?

If we had any sort of tradition or consistency I would take a guess, but we are the definition of "Flavor of the Month".

I honestly have no idea what they are going to do. If they had any sense they would remove them completely from the board. The culture has become clear in the clubhouse and it's one of drug problems. Thats 4 key players in the last 3 seasons and 2 in the last 2 months. Would they really trust another player with drug problems to be on the defense with 4 other players with documented drug problems? I damn sure wouldn't.

I already thought DE was a top need for this team - even if those 2 were not getting suspended. So, yes I think it does push DE players up the board, if not with the #4 pick then definitely with the next 2 picks. So if the team does not draft DE at #4, then very likely they trade up to get one in the bottom of first or reach for a player that otherwise would not be drafted as high with other picks.

In response to the two players you mentioned - I just have no idea. Could be that they draft DE's that are not projected to go as high but feel are safer due to the drug concerns which means they may draft players above where they are expected to go.

Spence and Bosa are two very different risk levels. One failed multiple drug tests and was kicked out of school. One was suspended a game for "violation of team policy."

The NFL saw Gregory as a major risk and drafted him accordingly. We'll find out what they think about these two very soon.

Impossible to know what they think in the building. If it were me it would make me more likely to draft Zeke and get back to 2014 when the D was supposed to be the worst in history. Then address the D-line with later picks. Romo and an upper echelon run game would help cover up the D more to me then Bosa.

It shouldn't have any effect (effect, not affect) on our draft at all. And I don't think it will. We're pretty good about sticking with BPA, at least in the first round.

Bosa, Lawson, Dodd, etc are not going to help Romo win anything next year. Zeke, Henry, and WR's will. That's where I go now that the QB's are gone. Then the rest on D. This is no different then in 2014 when Lawrence had a broken foot, and Selvie and Mincy were the starters when we went 12-4.

Are they going to look at the first 4 games of the season or are they going to look at the next 4 years. I know what my gut is telling me.

Considering that the next infraction for either of our DEs could land a much longer suspension, one could argue that a new DE would be necessary for both short term and the next four years.

You think a RB helps the defense more than a defensive player?

We can dominate TOP without spending the #4 pick on a RB. We were in the top 8 last season, despite the issues with Romo and Dez, and depsite not creating turnovers. We'll be near the very top again this year if healthy, whether we start McFadden, Morris, Elliot, or another rookie RB.

They have to take Bosa, hopefully one of Gregory or Lawrence pan out but I'm not betting on either of them moving forward.

We need stability at that position, it's too important. We're literally looking at Benson Mayowa and Ryan Russell as your starting edge rushers

Technically I said Zeke would help more then Bosa. I did not say in every case but in this one yes that is what I believe.

B

They aren't the only two pass rushers in the draft

Thanks for policing grammar on an Internet forum. Such an under appreciated job.
You know, I totally get that complaint when people make posts that consist of nothing but corrections, but when it's a side note in an otherwise on-topic reply, it's hard to sympathize with you taking offense (especially when you post a response that ignores the on-topic content). If it were me, I'd want to know that I was repeatedly using a word wrong, as long as the person telling me wasn't rude about it.

Im almost at the point that im starting to wonder if they are going to build in a drug rehab facility at THE STAR. Could help

Offense wasn't taken friend. I genuinely don't care enough about a grammatical error to take offense.
