I’m staying out of this for now but am curious who you guys would rather have? I can see pros and cons to either side but I started thinking about this because I wondered if the Cowboys screwed up by franchising Lawrence. If they truly franchised him as a negotiating tactic, they may have taken themsleves right out of the ET equation since there is hypothetical money designated towards Lawrence whereas if they let Lawrence hit FA because they didn’t like his asking price, they could have got ET.

Now they could have a guy who holds out or misses part of the season AND they miss out on ET because they don’t want to commit the money to him yet without knowing what they will end up paying Dlaw, if anything.

I know I kind of rambled but hopefully you get what I’m asking and my point.

I think we could get 2 1st Rd picks for DLaw. So I think it's fair to ask 2 1st Rd picks and ET or DLaw?

Pretty unanimous so far. Obviously salary, guaranteed money, length of contract, etc all come into play. In my head I was just thinking of the numbers we’ve all heard thrown around for each of them 15 and 20 mil respectively. I would hope ET would be no longer than 3 years and obviously less guaranteed than Tank.

Let me see, a 26 year old guy who we drafted and who is the only pass rushing threat we have, at the moment, or a 30 year old Safety who is a rental for a season or two. Humm........ no, no, don't help me with this one. Let me think about this for a few.......

Lawrence.

But I am obsessed with having tons of DEs.

Don’t take this the wrong way but I think you’re crazy. I think we would be lucky to get one high 1st rounder for Tank, especially as loaded as this draft is, a team that really wanted a DE could probably move up for cheaper and grab an unproven but much cheaper DE without injury concerns as well.

Not a fair comparison given the money Tank wants and the possibly to trade him.

Real comparison would be Tank Lawrence or Earl, upgrade free agent at both DT spots, and a possible top 40 pick.

That comparison then becomes REAL interesting.

Pressure on the qb and the whole secondary looks good. No pressure and a NFL qb will slice up the best secondary.
