Running is PART of the skill set of almost every position.

Nehemia was a better RUNNER than Rice. Rice was a better WR. See?

I hated it when we had to play against Campbell in the day, or Riggo. If not for a fumble by Riggins late in that game in 1979, we lose the game and miss the playoffs. Otherwise he dominated us all day. I think he ran for over 200. Whatever it was, we couldn't stop him. The one mistake he made all day came with around 2 minutes left. Its all Roger and Tom needed. We won the division and made it to the NFC chip game. We made 3 straight NFC title games in that span and 2 SB appearances and 1 SB win.

I think Dallas made 4 NFC title games from 1976-81. During an era where we had to face the likes of riggins and Campbell. Not easy. Betti's was a hard guy to bring down. He was like a fleet of foot 265 pound lineman that you needed to gang tackle. He had top speed that we might not ever see again for a dude that big. Derrick Henry falls into that category too. A freak.

This was where Emmitt Thrived.
How many 1 and 2 yards TD's hurt his, not only total yards, but average per yards as well.

There is more to playing RB than wiggle. Emmit could catch, block, great in 3rd or 4th and short...great around the goal line, and he was AVAILABLE at a high level for a decade plus!!! People get bored with greatness, so they search for ways to diminish it. He was the MVP of those super bowl runs. People forget, we won playoff games without Troy during our era of dominance. Troy was GREAT...Emmit was our engine. Anyone that does not have Emmit in their top 3 all time does not know football.

I agree. It’s funny how people pick and chose when to use a tasty argument against someone. I’ve never heard that knock on Montana or Bradshaw….its reserved for Emmitt and Troy…..

Even on a guy like Burrow. No one knocks him for the toothy he’s had since LSU.

The Emmitt vs Barry debate will never die.

Come on. Emmitt was a winning back who consistently made gains that moved the chains. Sanders was a bunch of TFL, then maybe a home run.

I was in the building for that playoff loss to Detroit. Drive ten hours each way for that mess, but hey, that was Barry’s big day over Emmitt. I knew what was coming from Dallas moving forward. How’d Barry do the following week at Washington?

Barry quit early. Emmitt had to be dragged out of the league. Talent and heart are two very different things.

Emmit's game against the Giants, with a dislocated shoulder has to go down as one of the greatest games for a running back, if not the GREATEST GAME of all time! John Madden called this game and he put his stamp on it, AS THE GREATEST GAME, he had ever witnessed by a running back.
