Do we have any attorneys in the room? Do you guys remember the $10 we received after the class action suit against Sunday Ticket some time ago?

Is there anything we can do about them now? I finally got my HD hooked up this week and they are trying to renig (sp) on everything they gave me initially. I wrote it all down. They are playing dumb about the free Superfan. They said I'm only down for 2 months of premium movies instead of 4. The spread my Sunday Ticket payments over 5 installments instead of 4 because they went up on the price without my knowledge in a sneaky way. (I finally figured it out.) They tried to charge my friend $69 in 5 installments and he has been a member one year longer than I have!! That's outrageous.

Every time you call you get a different line from these people. There's got to be some recourse.

The line I got several times about NFL sunday ticket is, that they really don't fix the price but NFL does. So eventhough I have been having NFL ticket for 8 years now, if you include this year, every year other than first two years, I have gotten increases.

I think I remember you said you managed to get the same price every time since you started NFL ticket, but I have asked couple of different Directv guys and they said thats not possible. So go figure.

Everything Directv offered me so far has come through fine...

Not sure what to say an the takebacks there now doing..Only thing I can think of is that the person who made those offers didnt document the system with this info??

Yeah, all they need to do is take my word for it:rolleyes: What make me mad is for them to tell me that "the system won't allow them to do it". Get outta here. My orginal Customer Rep gave me all kind of reference #'s to refer to if I ever had to call. He still claimed he didn't see what she told me.

As far as Sunday Ticket prices ... I kid you not. I've paid the same price until this year. Last year they credited my increase because I caught it.

Worst company I've ever dealt with. Working for an NFL team, I can tell you that there time is up in 2011. By then, the Sunday Ticket will most likely be available through your local cable provider.

Do you want to know what kind of company you're dealing with? I had the NFL Sunday Ticket through DirecTV since 1994. However, if you call and ask them how long they've had it, for some reason they say four years. I have no idea why they are lying like this. I called and asked 10 different people and they all said they did not have the NFL Sunday Ticket in 1994 (I had a bet with a friend who claimed it didn't come out until 1999 and that was the reason I called them in the first place). Meanwhile, I still have my original dish and Cowboys games on tape from 1994 that I recorded off of DirecTV. They are as shady as you can get but luckily, in five years we will all be able to get the games through our cable box and we won't have to worry about putting up dishes on the side of our house and paying for their hidden costs.

Two years ago I noticed they charged me $29.99 for the South Carolina/Ole Miss game. Not only did I already have the college football ticket, I called them and asked who in their right mind would pay $30 to watch that game? They ended up taking the charge off but it took much longer than it should have. Trust me, go over that bill every month with a fine-tooth comb. I was paying for ABC and Fox for four months and I didn't even know it, nor did I ever sign up for those channels. They are a bunch of crooks and I can't wait until 2012 when thousands of those dishes are laying in dumps all across the country.

You know I have been hearing about NFL ticket being available via Cable since almost 98, the first time I signed up for Directv NFL Ticket. So far it failed to happen twice it seems like.

2004 Sunday Ticket

2002 Sunday Ticket

Wiki showing DirecTV since 1994

DirecTV has maintained Sunday Ticket for many years. ST is an absolute differentiator for DirecTV and a cash cow for the NFL. The cable companies do not have the collective will (or organization) to come up with a competitive package to challenge DirecTV. Technologically speaking, DirecTV will also leapfrog the cable companies in HD capable delivery technology over the next couple of years. At the same time, cable will be under pressure from the phone companies on delivery of television to the home. Do not bet on a change in the current arrangement. It's not likely to happen.

I have it from a good source in our organization who deals with TV contracts and things of that nature that when this contract runs out with DirecTV, that will be it. The cable companies wouldn't pay the price the NFL wanted last time and DirecTV would. However, with the NFL Network and other NFL ventures soon to be on cable TV, the NFL feels that 2011 is the right time to make the move because they will be able to reach many more customers and there really won't be any advantages to re-signing with DirecTV. That's the reason why they signed such a long deal this time around. The league is sucking them dry. The person I spoke to said it's probably 90 percent likely at this point and like I stated before, he is in the loop with this kind of stuff. This is just what I was told recently, nothing is for certain.

Amen doomsday81. Just the mere fact I get a different spill every time I call those busters is evidence enough for me. They've got us by the ballzaks.

That couldn't be further from the truth. If you knew some of the things the NFL has in the works with the cable companies, you would likely change your opinion. You will see what I mean in the next few years. Cable stations are going to have some incredible stuff coming with the league's approval in the next year or two. I'm not at liberty to discuss specifics but trust me, you will all be very happy with what is going to be offered.

Dooms, see my post above. I'm no insider, but from both a business and technology perspective I stand by my conclusion. The NFL will stick with a satellite provider for the Sunday Ticket and DirecTV will be in the best position to provide the service.

I've had DirecTV and Sunday Ticket since 1997 and couldn't be happier.

As far as taking the Ticket away from DirecTV...The NFL will only do that if DirecTV won't pay what they want and I doubt that happens...They aren't stupid...It's what sets them apart from everyone else.

But it should be available on Satellite and Cable.

I think/hope the NFL is going PAY PER VIEW... I dont wanna pay to see teams I dont wanna watch ( I have 2 TVs next to each other and I can still only watch 2 games at a time). If I wanna go to the game or go out to watch the game at a Casino or Bar I dont wanna pay for games I'm not even home to watch!

I hope what you are saying it true. I don't perticularly hate Directv, as most of the stuff they promise me has been delivered, but I don't care to have satellite dish solely because of NFL ticket or pay higher prices because of that for their regular channels or packages.

I have DirectTV for Sunday ticket only. Guess I'm lucky to be grandfathered in. I've had numerous bad experiences with them and I wait patiently for the day I can tell them where to stick it.

When I got it (Back in 98 or 99) it was $99 a year for the Sunday ticket. Now I pay $179.99 a year. Too much, but still worth it to get the 10-12 games I would not see due to being in CT.

Wish it were pay per veiw on cable.

I understand what some of you are saying but because of the team I work for - and the mods know who that is - I know of a couple of things that are in the works. I, myself, only know the tip of the iceberg but I do know that Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are one of the franchises (along with mine) that are leading the charge on these changes. Trust me, in a couple of years when these things are made public, you'll understand why DirecTV bidding for the NFL will be a non-issue. That's all I can say but again, the things I heard that may be available in the future will make every NFL fan extremely happy. It may not make sense now but things are changing and DirecTV won't be coming along for the ride if these changes happen.

I can't for the life of me understand why some of you are begging to be ripped off by cable tv. I have had DirecTV for 8 years and I couldn't be happier with the service and extras that I have been given with nothing more than a simple phone call.

A cable salesperson called and tried to convince me to switch (since I have cable internet). I explained the packeges I have and the price I was paying and asked what they could do to match (knowing damn well that I wouldn't switch due to NFL Sunday Ticket). After about a 5 second pause the guy flat out said that there's no way that he could match that price for that channel package. Yeah, idiot, I know you can't so stop calling. Anyone begging for the equivalent of monthly anal rape by a cable company is a glutton for punishment. I don't give a rat's *** what their NFL package is. I've got this place, NFL Network and Sunday Ticket. That'smore than enough information for me.

I have had Directv for years, one for the Sunday Ticket and the other because Comcast cable was raising my rates at least once every six months. I got tired of paying for their infrastructure improvements. Then when they went to digital they wanted me to pay for rental on a box and a remote. That was the last straw. I called them and told them to cancel everything I had on cable. I mounted my dish the next day and I have had almost the same bill for the last 5 or 8 years. I would hate to go back to Comcast again....

I have cable right now and agree with your thoughts on this.
I'm thinking of going to satellite because you can pay less and get better channels.
Right now I do not get NFL network and with the Boys having that game on that channel something's gotta give.
I think it will be cable.
Right now I am paying for basic-extended package with cable and it's running right at $50.00 a month. That's without a premium movie channel and only 66 channels. That includes a bunch a crappy channel's I do not even watch like shopping channels, cspan and lifetime network.

I have seen several packages offered by satellite which would give me the NFL network and some other sport stations I do not get right now for something around 35 a month.
I live in Amarillo Texas so getting the Cowboys games on cable has not been a problem but having a game on the NFL network makes cable seem even more lame than it use to.
I hate my cable company and the way they give us packages that we have no choice in getting. No sports packages in cable.
I could get NFL network on cable but that would involve going to digital cable and another big price increase just to get that one channel.
No way Jose...
I'm going satellite.
