Niners picked up a pair of super athletic big uglies - Lawrence Okoye and Luke Marquardt

Would have liked both players

Niners getting a lot of players

Too bad theres not enough room for all those players

Or has a 4 year Navy commitment? Or already plays football in another league?

:laugh2:

But for what it's worth, the draft was much longer back then. If it were 8 or 12 rounds, we almost definitely would have drafted him.

Why waste a draft pick on someone who may decide to go the MLB route. As am USDA no loss if he decides to change careers.

He's a 25+ round draft pick in baseball. He's been drafted three times now, never choosing to leave/not attend college or give up football. He'll get zero money to play in the minor leagues.

Minor league players make very little money - maybe 10k for the full season at best unless they have a unique contract which, obviously no one is giving.

If you make an NFL roster it is 400k for the year. If you are on the PS all year you bring in close to 100k.

He is not choosing baseball over football.

Yep. While the average salary for an MLB player is higher than an NFL player, and the career is typically longer, and the contracts 100% guaranteed, you actually have to spend a few years living below the poverty line in MiLB to even get a chance on the big stage.

And most minor league players never get to the MLB. You could kick around the minors for 10 years and make about what you get on a practice squad in a year and a half.

No one is going to choose baseball over football unless they are a top prospect.

Sure. But you can be fat and out of shape and still play

Well, maybe some corner infielders and a couple relief pitchers I can think of meet that discription. But then again...

Good to have another Sun Devil. Next year the Cowboys need to get their DT from there...Will Sutton.
