If you could come out of this draft with one LB considering talent and the pick we'd have to use to get them..who would it be?

1. Sonny Styles at 12 because he has the potential to be a Fred Warner level LB.

2. Anthony Hill Jr at 20 because he is young, has great size, has pass rush juice, and forces fumbles.

3. CJ Allen at 20 because he is a leader and a playmaker and is a great run defender.

4. Deontae Lawson in a trade down/2nd round pick because he is an alpha MLB and was the commander of Alabama's defense.

5. Jake Golday in a trade down/2nd round pick because he is a freak athlete, 6'4 and explosive.

6. Jacob Rodriguez in the late 2nd/early 3rd because he is an intelligent former QB-turned-LB with great instincts.

This is a great year to need a LB. There are more I don't know as much about yet.

Styles/Hill Jr/Allen and Lawson could all walk in and be day 1 starters.

ANY OF THE TOP 3 I WILL BE HAPPY WITH!!!!!

I haven't watched a lot of LBs in this class, but here are my thoughts...
  • I think Styles is the best value even at #12. I think he's a future All-Pro, and he's the only guy I've seen who I'd even consider to be a blue chipper in this class.
  • CJ Allen is a pick 40-60 guy. Kind of a steady Eddie who handles the routine stuff, but doesn't make a lot of big plays. Starter, not a stud.
  • Anthony Hill Jr has some serious Kenneth Murray to his game. Huge, extremely fast, overruns plays, get whipped in coverage. I don't know if I would take him in the top 50.

Great list and projection

At 12 i wants Downs or DE or CB
With 20 i trade down and take LB

I think Styles may take 2-3 years before he starts to reach his potential which makes him a little rich for me at 12 but he may be the best option on the Board. I'll be good with it but I think expectactions need to be tempered with him, especially if he gets the green dot. He's young with not a ton of experience at LB.

So someone gives us a 1, 2, and a 3 for our 12 pick.

We take it?

I agree there is a wide gap between Styles and the next tier guys. What are your thoughts about Rodriguez, hearing he can go much higher then where many are projecting him? He is a true football player, but I am very interested to see his testing numbers. If he is athletic enough, might hear his name on day 1.

Styles has the potential to become special player, very similar upside to Fred Warner. I have questions about him against the run, but he is still learning the position.

Styles is my guy.

But I think they will go another direction and Allen will be their target at 20.

I would double dip at LB and take Styles and Hill.

Rodriguez I’d love if we don’t get a LB early. I like instinctive players. It’s one thing that really hard to teach. And that’s the most important trait for a LB

I would sign the best available free agent off-ball LB.
- LBs and RBs are cheap compared to DL, WR, CB, etc..
Agree and add SS to that. We could sign 2 starters that are upgrades for relatively cheap contracts. Attack the $ positions like DE and CB in the draft

stay far away from Allen (can’t cover) and Hill (instincts of a hyena) both both just potential

Sonny Styles or bust
