Yep, and I would also stash King (the tackling machine) on the practice squad for when someone gets injured. Still plenty of time for the FO to do something at the position - but right now, today, that is how I see it.

Have to bring someone in, Wilson, Nzeocha are unknowns, Gachkar is a special teams guy, and Wilber can play a little but is a borderline starter.

I'd bring Durrant in if he's healthy, but Nzeocha showed some flashes late last season. Wonder how he'd look in the middle.

Our LBs are dreadful. We've done a terrible job there over the years. Nicknames can only do so much.

Talk about overreacting. We're gonna be just fine, relax.

Lee, Gachkar, Hitchens. I think Gachkar is gonna surprise people, Lee is an All Pro and arguably a top 3 LB in the game and Hitchens is, whatever, ok, not terrible. As long as these guys work together we'll be fine. And the chemistry will probably be even better which is more important than skill. McClain wasn't exactly the most popular guy anyway and he's freelancing a lot on the field. With Gachkar we're gonna get a guy who sticks to his assignments.

We aren't terrible at LBer but we are not average there either. Hitchens is average at least, IMO. Lee is superior when he is healthy. The others to date are marginal or unknowns.

Nzeocha according to himself is playing the mike. Wilson is not a WILL but a SAM given his length, speed, and such. Gachkar has the speed to play WILL.

I would put it

Lee Hitchens Wilber
Gachkar Nzeocha Wilson

I kind of like most of those guys. But the fact that we've been hanging a bit at SAM to begin with leaves us short on quality starters there. Durant would help. I like Hitchens almost as I like in-shape McClain, but we're down a starter at MIKE now. Nzeocha and Wilson both have some ability if they can manage to take a step forward in camp like they're supposed to be able to do when you draft well and keep stability in a defensive system. If they can't, then something is wrong.

Gachkar took over for McClain in the starting lineup during OTA's, so he's the Mike.

Hopefully the team will sign a few more LBs. Next year I would make a point to draft some good young LBs if that is still a major concern.

I also see Church sliding down to LB.. Our defense is a mess.. Yet we throw away picks like we're the Steel Curtain.
