I noticed that Gifford was practicing on Thursday when watching Training Camp live with Broaddus and Rob Phillips. He had just fractured his finger on Tuesday.

He really shows up in many of the camp videos that I've watched.
- He was a 3-4 OLB in college.
- He looks really comfortable up around the line.
- Good at taking on blocks.
- Shows some ability to blitz.
- A 4-3 LB has more coverage responsibilities than a 3-4 OLB.
- He looks good in short area coverage from what I've seen.
- Difficult to know from camp video about his coverage on deeper routes.

He's gotten a lot of hype in Training Camp so far.

There isn't much video of him on youtube so he'll be another fun player to watch Saturday.

As a die-hard Husker fan, I've seen all of Luke's games and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that he had signed w/ the 'boys. He had dealt w/ some injuries, during his junior year, and more or less sat out the entire year. Nebraska *** up as they should have red-shirted him that year. He was rock solid his senior year, was ALWAYS around the ball and was the legitimate captain of the D. Dude is still growing & developing and he's not even close to reaching his peak yet. I pray that he stays healthy, because if he does....watch out. I always thought of him as Sean Lee 2.0. The football skills 2.0 and not the walking band-aid 2.0! :lmao:

I have Gifford penciled In now for that sixth linebacker spot over Covington.

I'm intrigued by him. Everything I'm seeing that pertains to him seems to be good news for anyone wanting to see the depth at LB prosper.

I'm anxious to see what he can do when he's given the chance to get some reps during the upcoming preseason games. It'll be interesting.

Bro, I believe it would be a huge mistake trying to pass Gifford through waivers in order to place him on the practice squad. Someone will eventually pick him up. Covington has some talent but not as much as Gifford, nor as big as Gifford. Cowboys need to keep Gifford.

They've always kept 7 LBs since moving back to the 4-3.

Note:
One year R.McClain was the "7th" but was suspended the first 4 games.
- He didn't count against the 53 until he returned.

I don't think we'll have room for seven this year, although a lot could happen to open up that space over the next few weeks.

I broke two finger on a Friday night and didn't miss a practice, so what? That's what men do. If you thinks that's a big deal, check your man card.

Injury prone and undrafted...

Already playing with an injury.

Don't get the hype.

Maybe we should at least see him in some preseason games before deciding … :)

And it seems Gifford has the smarts as well.
