Yea this came out of left field. There are some rumblings that he's unhappy with the way the Niners have handled this offseason. Find it hard to believe he'd go as far as to retire simply because of that though.

I could see him "retiring" and forcing the 9ers to trade his rights when he "gets the bug to return", TBH.

Hasn't he been whispering about this for a couple of years now? I don't blame him. Make some money, then save your body for the long term.

I was pretty surprised by this.

But I've got a feeling the guy just doesn't want to deal with SF and what's going on there.

They got rid of their coach, their RB, rumors floating that they're shopping their supposed franchise QB.

I can see someone like Willis saying no thanks to playing into his thirties for a team that seems to be a complete disaster.
