League Minimum Getting Raised

Lower cap and higher minimums means the highest paid players will get paid a lower portion of total player salary.

The "only looking out for the top 10%" brigade were wrong the entire time.

I am officially now happy with the entire deal. Sign it, start the league year, launch this sucker.

It's more likely that the guys in the middle will get squeezed. I doubt that the top guys will sign for less than what they were getting two years ago, so they'd actually get a larger portion of the total. The bottom guys would be getting slightly more, too, so it would be the guys in the middle who would be getting a smaller portion.

Like the middle class getting screwed. This CBA stuff is related to my life ;)

shades of the rest of society; those in the middle get it from both ends.

Sounds like real life!

Possibly. I don't see how the top guys shouldn't be expecting tightened belts either, though.

Very happy to have been wrong.

I give credit to Smith and the players for their negotiations through most of this.

Once they went the negotiate route rather than the litigate route, their stance has been nothing but reasonable in my opinion.

Much credit to all involved.

You weren't.

the guys at the top never lose anything. That is the way the world is.

Either way then.

I'm just happy with the final outcome.

Now it's on the re-signing Free and Kosier and seeing what the next steps will be.

:D

We'll see. I just don't see the premier guys accepting less than what guys have been getting.

You were easily one of the most level headed people in the topics. This was not an original demand or discussion but they've figured out the need for it. That is a great thing. I am satisfied. The things I wanted are now in the deal. If they actually can take care of the retired players like I hope I will be ecstatic.

They ought to make one of the preseason games the Hall of Fame game.

Because they have never been the ones to tighten their belts.

in what fantasy land does OGT think the top guys will be making less money?

I do think teams will figure out creative ways to get them their money and still have enough left for the rest, but there's no doubt they will get their money.

Once all the details of the deal come out, it will be amusing watching the fallout around here.

The excuses and back tracking as people try to justify some of the outlandish statements that were made. People trying to prove that they were correct all along.

It is certainly interesting seeing information coming out that flies in the face of some of the bold proclamations made around here.

I suppose this one will be something along the lines that the NFLPA didn't really care about anybody but the top 10% until the owners convinced them otherwise.
