League shipwrecks Captain Morgan campaign

Well, one is an alcoholic product (which active players and coaches are forbidden to endorse) done during the middle of a game, and the other is a family-themed entertainment resort done after the game is over. But other than that, yeah there's no difference.

The NFL has their hands all over the booze game. Plain and simple, they weren't gonna sniff a dime out of it and they won't be having that.

Yes, I am sure that that's part of it too. I believe Captain Morgan is an NFL sponsor, but what happens when a player makes a pose that promotes a product that doesn't sponsor the NFL and is a competitor of an NFL sponsor? It's just a precedent that they cannot allow to continue for a whole bunch of reasons.

That right there was likely a major talking point when they had their meeting about this. One too many cross promotions of a competitor of a sponsor and they pull their ad money and the NFL loses out on millions. So yea they kind of have a good point.

I do like however that the "payment" was going to a charity and not into the players pocket they make enough off ads in off the field activities no need to help them make money at the NFL's expense.
