15 Pass Deflections, 1 INT in 5 games..

Just to compare to other teams, the median so far is:

35 Pass Deflections, 6 INTs

The league leader is:

50 Pass Deflections, 13 INTs

So I have to pose the question, why are we last in the league in Pass Deflections and Interceptions with DB's who are supposed to be playmakers..

I really feel like a more aggressive secondary/defense that forces turnovers will be the difference in making us into a pretender to a contender. Until we can start forcing the issue on defense we will always be mediocre.

Also just to note we are well below average in Forced Fumbles and Fumbles Recovered as well.

6th overall pick
50 million dollars on a corner.

Secondary is still mediocre.

OUR Dallas Cowboys

I wouldn't be shocked if we don't get another INT the rest of the season. Our defensive players don't play the ball and are never in position to intercept bad or deflected throws.

i guess the pressure on the qb? we really don't force qb's to throw from weird angles and etc. Our dline also doesn't get there hands up and try to tip balls or get in the qb's vision. Idk if they are taught to do so because I rarely see anyone on our dline man get there hands up while they are stuck to the lineman like glue. lol

also our defense isn't really aggressive. We are just basically sending 4 rushers most of the time. Wonder if barry church injury has anything to do with that. IDk

I bet that starts to turn around this weekend.

Have to see it to believe. The Cowboys act like they've never seen a mobile QB everytime we play one. I half expect Cam to look like prime Randall Cunningham.

Because it's easy for opposing offenses. There's no pressure, no need to rush a throw or force anything. Most of the passes Flacco threw were wide open because they just took what our defense gave them.

And when our DBs do accidentally get their hands on a ball, they drop it.

You forgot the 5y/$27m nickle corner (Scandrick) and the 5y/$22.5m Safety (Sensabaugh).

Some of this is a result of fewer pass plays run against us...

BUT. We have not been playmaking. The playmakers on this team are Ware and Lee, and Ware isn't going to get a pick...

With the pass rush consisting of Ware and Some Guys, it's easier for the QB to take his time, not make a rushed read, and for their WRs to find the open spot in a zone or get separation.

I think that accounts for the rest...

also remember the claims that the revamped secondary would make the QB hold the ball longer and therefore produce more sacks for our defense?

We need another End, and Pressure LB.....until then this is what we will get.

Ryan is still playing a very passive defense. It's just like Wade. Never matches press coverage with a blitz. Teams just audible to quick releases and torch this defense. It's been happening for YEARS. Not to mention the fact that its very difficult to get INTs when you're in man coverage anyways.

It's hard to be too mad at the pass defense, it's been phenomenal all year, but at some point, they need to start making plays.

Ain't this the truth ^^

I have a question of my own. What is the median for pass attempts against right now?

Close to 200 you say? Ok, well how many passes have been attempted against our team?

Only 130? You say that's the least amount of any team in the league?

Hmm.. so again, why is it that we are last in INT's and pass deflections?

Thankfully, we'll get one of those when Spencer comes back this week.

regardless of the attempts it's no excuse for having zero from the secondary thru 5 games.

Im just saying, you have to look at all the facts, not just a cherry picked set of them.

Not defending our lack of forced TO's, but our D hasn't been as bad as some want to make it out to be.

Several things to consider:

- Romo and ST units have coughed up the ball giving opposing teams more chances to score.

- Combined with the points that our offense is struggling to put on the board we aren't forcing the opposing team to play catch up so in essence we are letting them settle into their game plans. I'd love to see someone quantify the chances of winning a game when you deviate from the game plan if it's possible. Pretty slim IMO.

- We also have a guy named Spencer that is hurt and his replacement is getting runned over...repeatedly.

- Ware's hamstring injury is limiting his play, Ratliff just got healthy, Lissemore just suffered an ankle injury, and Butler is not living up to the hype. The only consistent pass rusher we have is Hatcher and one man doesn't get the job done by himself.

The NYG and TB game were proof that when the D is putting up pressure and the coverage is good the QB is going to hold the ball. We've suffered some injuries and we are trying to work through them with an offense that has struggled until the Baltimore game. (even then it's not where it should be)
