LeBron James' agent, Richie Paul, has informed the Miami Heat that James will exercise his early termination option and become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Opting out does not mean James has decided to leave the Heat, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press, who spoke on condition of anonymity because neither the four-time NBA MVP nor the team had made any public announcement.

Personal note Im a die hard celtic fan, but its hard to even watch the NBA anymore. It's so watered down that any player with so-so averages or a string of a few games were he is dominating they will be labeled as stars. I hate that the NBA has a system where you have all these loop holes to get top guys and basically have 2 and 3 other teams basically pay his contract. Sign and trade you take these players so i can sign this "superstar". All these movements and there were really 2 legit championship teams in the league. Miami and San Antonio.
NBA is a joke with a draft full of 19 yr olds who the majority will be labeled busts a couple yrs from now. San Antonio is so far ahead of the NBA its laughable. Bring in MEN from overseas. Guys who are taught fundamentals, instead of drafting college guys who have no grasp of the word team. The guys they do draft can sit and learn from a team of professional players.
Bigger news than Lebron opting out is Tim Duncan took his option for 10.3 mil. LOL jesus i love Duncan. He should be making double that but team concept is whats in SA.
