Not sure if its been discussed in the previous 12 pages. But whats the deal with Kashmir? Its ranked as like their greatest song, and i just dont get it. Give me Over the Hills and Far away, over that anyday.

I can speak to Kashmir. I think that Kashmir live, is the definitive LZ song, (that does not include a solo.) See the 2007 O2 performance.That is live only live version of Kashmir that I prefer. I actually got to see LZ live, and their 1977 version of Kashmir is the best to my ears. And so, it's the official 2007 O2 version that reminds me most of the 1977 Kashmir, than any other non-official Kashmir recording.

For whatever reason, LZ did not record good dynamics on some studio songs, like Kashmir, and the a fore mentioned OTHAFA.

I never choose to listen to the studio versions of Kashmir or OTHAFA.

I much prefer the official live versions. I do not listen to the HOTH album. I hate the mix on the songs from that studio recording!!!

That said, some of my favorite LZ songs to listen to, are the live versions of songs from HOTH. Also SIBLY from III.
