If Flo doesnt start...we could be in trouble.

I know McQ has been talked up..but he a green rook. :(

from dallascowboys.com....

Adams returned to practice this week after missing the last two preseason games and part of a third with a strained left calf. Parcells hasn't decided if Adams will play, but said the veteran tackle is looking better.

"I'm going to try to play him if I think he can go," Parcells said.
If Adams can't play, rookie seventh-round pick Pat McQuistan probably would start and Jason Fabini would serve as the swing tackle who backs up both sides.

I think we are in better position than we were last season.

I believe McQuistan has more pass protection skills than Tucker or Petitti did last year. And the same goes for Fabini.

How many teams don't have a huge drop-off from their starting LT to their backup?

I really think Flo will be out on the field this Sunday. I would not be suprised to see Flo get a breather in the game and if McQ was to come in for a series or 2 I think he will get help from the TE lineup next to him be it Witten or Fasano. Problem last year is we were trying to protect both tackles

The Jags starting RE [Paul Spicer] had 7.5 sacks last season.

I hope Flo can go.

Frankly Flozell has been an underachiever his entire career, playing outstanding at times, but more often not living up to his potential.

Don't get me wrong, if he's healthy he's still MUCH better than Tucker was, and I'm sure much better than McQuistan is at this point. But I just don't think he's good enough and consistant enough to be a strong player at less than 100%.

He is getting older and coming off a knee injury, so his impact is uncertain at this point.

No worries my friend Parcells stated the Hotel claimed he was doing fabulous!
BP said he is slated to start Sunday...:)

so few players in this league make it to the probowl. Flo has. Twice. That's a pretty high level of achievement.

From the Parcells PC today, after a question about Flo:

Will you take two backup tackles?
No, I"ll only take you one.

Assuming Flozell starts, and it sounds like he will, the backup will probably be the swing Fabini. Sounds like McQ probably won't factor into the equation for Game 1.

It's pretty well know that once you are in at O-line it is much easier to get in afterward - almost automatic. I admit that the 1st Pro-bowl was well deserved - he had a great season. The 2nd was just kind of handed to him.

Larry Allen made a Pro-Bowl a few years ago after almost getting kicked off the team for being so out of shape and innefective in training camp. Remember that - Parcell actually told him to have his agent start talking to other teams and try to work out an acceptable trade. Allen ended up staying, but he had a very marginal year as he struggled with weight and conditioning all season, but he was Larry Allen, and that was enough to get him in.

In the absence of any real statistical measurement, O-linemen often make the Pro-Bowl on reputation.

Nevertheless, I don't mean to say Flozell has been a bad OT. But all of his coaches have said he should make the Pro-Bowl consistently - he has that kind of talent. All of them have also said that he frustrates the hell out of them because he doesn't consistently play to his talent level.

Flo will do fine. The real question is at RT with Columbo trying to handle Hayward and in the middle with Gurode/Rivera trying to deal with Henderson and his long arms.

I kind of expect that if Flo can't go it would be Fabini starting and McQ as the backup. But I really want to see Flo play and play well, he's a potential difference maker, the other two are "just guys".

If Adams plays, McQ is inactive. He can't be the swing tackle and Fabrini can.

Fasano will be helping out a lot

But the point is that if Fasano has to spend a large % of his time helping hobbled OT's then we can't utilize his talents as an all around TE. That would put us in the same situation as last year - having to use players that could be offensive weapons to cover for inadequate blocking. That's what we hope to move away from to some degree this year.
