Matt Mosley, special contributor to SportsDayDFW.com and columnist for Texas Monthly, answered your questions in a live chat Friday morning. Here are some highlights.
Jerry hasn't ruled Dez out for Sunday ... Would Jerry rule a dead man out of a game? Sheesh.

Matt Mosley: Hahaha. I think Jerry likes to make those other teams think about stuff. If Dez had some sort of spleen injury, Jerry would fly around the country to get cleared. With the knee, I don't see him playing. And the legend of Dak will grow. I don't think he'll flinch going out there without Dez. Lean on the run game and then keep flipping the ball to your leading WR...Cole Beasley.

So ... Terrance Williams is the likely No. 1 receiver Sunday. Is it now or never for that guy to step up?

Matt Mosley: This guy can't win around here. He had good numbers last week, but he lost that fumble. Terrance is a big-play threat. I don't think he'll ever please everyone and he'll likely be allowed to walk. I think most folks are more excited about what Brice Butler might bring to the table this week than Terrance. T-Will simply isn't a No. 1. And there's no shame in that. I don't think Randall Cobb is a No. 1. Is he still a huge threat? Absolutely. I don't think Alshon Jefferey is a No. 1? Is he dangerous? Yes. You get my point.

Can Dak actually do enough to keep Romo on the bench?

Matt Mosley: It's a question on everyone's mind. For now, Dak is just focused on winning games. Would it be tough to remove a quarterback with some of the best numbers in the league? Absolutely. But I think Jerry would still want Jason to bring back Tony Romo. I think everyone is secretly waiting for Dak to have his rookie moment and throw a couple INTs. He'll have a rough game at some point. I think he'll react to it really well. He threw three INTs in a huge game against Alabama in 2014. It was devastating for him. But he never wavered. I think for now there's almost nothing he can do to keep Romo from returning. But he could force the Cowboys to be more conservative on Tony's timetable.
This is a franchise quarterback. Fans should be very excited about this guy's future.

As far as a rookie moment, Dak is die some INTs.
But what has Romo's excuse been all these years?
Let's not have two standards, one for the rookie and one for the veteran.
You make it sound like Romo threw a lot of interceptions on average.
That's fact say that he did not.

Why not just give Dak some credit without always dissing Romo....always taking the low road.

He's certainly looking like one.

The Niners aren't a very good football team, and their offense is lacking, but they do play some defense.

We're going to be starting a rookie QB without the #1 receiver, a very average defense, and possibly without the starting left tackle. That's some perspective.

If he goes out there and has a good game, leaving the offense to scoring 24+ while having the same relative numbers lately, that's going to be huge and say a ton.

Just ride the wave, we 're not seeing the whole package yet. Seems the coaching staff (again) just take it easy with him and waiting to unleash more of him. He has a good arm, great touch, and his confidence is what keeps him above others. Lets see how Dallas plays this before we really know. This is delicate because we cant afford another post Aikman part two. Lets hope hes our next qb. So far so good.

You're completely missing the point. its not a double standard, just the first inclination he's not perfect. hard to sell people on bringing romo back while Dak is playing completely mistake free football. But if not...

I'm getting giddy at the hypothetical in your last paragraph, gmoney! Mainly because I see it happening :)

Wouldn't fit his lame schtick. Whichever one he chooses to use.

I don't like when people try to take up for TWill.

The guy could probably be replaced by just about any other NFL caliber wide-out.

His specialty is speed and he's not very fast. He's got size but it's negated by the fact that he's a body catcher.

The only thing I commend him for is playing fearless in the middle of the field-- dude is willing to make a catch there traffic.

Dear naive fellow ... tne low road is countles INTs in a decade of Decembers.

Dear old fellow, Romo's 2 first-round CAREER playoff wins in a decade just does not do it! Persimity fluff, bloke.
I don't seek credit for Dak as much as I am sick and tired of Romo's "We have to do better" post game apologies in December. And that is when he is healthy.
Is he healthy? Right now? Tony, call us when you can grace our presences without too much pain....
Sigh.
Do we dab our eyes with each Romo rehab update? SURE!
But, finally, let's move on from the awful Romo experiment.
Danny White is a legend by comparison.
Dak ... anyone who can survive a game, we need you.

You sound like one of those fools that believe that only a QB is responsible for wins and loses. Surely you aren't one of those complete idiots, right? It takes a team to win and a team to lose. If a defense can't make a stop and an O-line can't protect, no QB in history is going to make you win playoff games. I am assuming that you're not one of those fools, so you MUST know this.

The only way Dak throws a pick is if our receivers tip the pass to a defender, besides that he makes very safe throws to wide open players.

I would say its not about throwing ints.

Everybody is going to do that.

Frankly..

he should throw one on the first pass Sunday and just get it behind him.

Its a non-factor to me.

If he throws 40 passes Sunday which he may do..

and he gets intercepted a couple of times and we still win..

What is going to be the headline Monday?

That DAK was the hero and that the 9ers almost beat the Cowboys.

Not about INTS.

People over magnify things so much.

I worry more about the refs blowing a call causing us to lose than DAK throwing it to the other team

Romo's excuse?

Dude has been one of the best QBs in all of football the last few years when healthy.

I really wonder if people actually watch the Cowboys.

Since he's become a starter Romo is top 2 in 4th quarter comebacks and owns the best QB rating in the month of December. But do go on....

Thanks for the insults, bloke. A sign of a lack of verbal skills and lots of anger to spare.
Aikman, Montana, Staubach, Brady, Manning are known for Super Bowl wins. Without Super Bowl rings, they fall to the ranks of the Romos of the world.
Save yourself the mention of Marino. It's a cliche and crutch, old fellow.
Isn't it time to admit that the future starts now? And without the baggage of the past?
Again, thanks for the insults. I shudder that others might live with you.

Your old schtick was much more entertaining. At least it was original and required some creativity. Now, you just add "bloke" or some other lame English slang term to your posts. Why bother?
