Well I'm actually working out for football season (practices start in a month). I wanted to get to 220 by the time the season started (mid February). After a month and a half of working out 3-4 times a week I've lost ZERO lbs. Not a single one. I've even improved my eating habits (not great, but not bad either).
Yeah, if your regimen is more working out than dieting, you're gonna replace some body fat with muscle mass... I actually figure I've dropped closer to 30 pounds of fat, because I can definitely see (and feel) more muscle development in my arms, shoulders and legs)... my calves look like a freakin' bodybuilder's right now, and it's entirely because of walkin' up and down all those hills...
I can definitely see and feel the difference, but the weight is still up there. Even if I've gained muscle it's not helping me cuz I have to lower my weight cuz I got turf toe last year and it still hasn't healed completely. Less weight would mean less pressure on my toe.
You couldn't be more right, man... just with the little weight I've lost so far, my aching knees are bothering me MUCH less...
This was all so much easier when I was young, and a gym rat... spend 3-6 hours a day playing basketball, and you can eat all you want and never gain an ounce when you're bustin' your butt up and down the court... alas, that was back in the days when I had knees (though it was my right ankle that caused the end of my hoops days, I broke it in the same spot the last 3 times I stepped on a basketball court)...
The only cardio work I've been doing is on the eliptical (sp?) and some on the treadmill.
Treadmills just bore the livin' bejesus out of me... that's why I walk, my route takes me up into the woods, it's real pretty out there, especially this time of the year... the walking is my favorite part of my regimen, I get up at 6:30 on my days off and am on the road by sunup... it's quite relaxing, quite invigorating, really sets my day up...
I don't want to jog yet cuz that will make my toe flare up. On thursday I went to the gym and did an hour on the eliptical and burned 975 calories. I figure if I do that 1 or 2 times a week plus my regular workout I should start dropping some weight.
Good luck to ya, bud... in your regimen, and in the upcoming football season...
