only has audio, but still could be interesting... sorry if already posted...

hmmmmm....very interesting. I was listening to the news conference when Jerry's crack about the draft in the Parcells era came up.

"Leonard gives us a chance...We missed on a couple of our picks over the last 4 or 5 years...uh, 3 years...This gives us a chance to really play catch up. And really get back where argueably ---if we had of gotten a little better results on our draft there and a couple of picks we made --- where we would be..."

I think it is becoming clear that Jerry is rejecting a lot of Parcell's principles. I think he is not impressed with Parcells the draft Guru. I frankly am not either. In fact I am looking forward to Jerry drafting again. Jerry will go for a home-run talentwise in the first two rounds. Parcells was always a little too complacent with blue collar guys with average talent at the top of the draft...IMO.

Davis is an elite talent who is a good NFL starter. Frankly it is like Jerry got to add one of his kinds of OLs --- ala Allen, Adams, Gurode --- to his team.

seems like a nice guy, definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed, but i dont think brains means much on the line.

Right, because the Dallas Cowboys had an excellent track record in the draft before Parcells came along.

I think we did. The way teams draft was changed by the Cowboys methods in the 1960's and 1970's. We had some great success in the early 90's too.

Parcells isn't the first guy to draft well as our Head Coach and he had some bad misses just like others.

Yea, because Jerry knew that Rogers and Peterman would be busts.

I should have been more specific. FiniteMan was saying he was looking forward to having Jerry draft again instead of Parcells, so my comment was referring to the Cowboys' drafts under Jerry in the years leading up to Parcells -- the Dwayne Goodriches, Shante Carvers, and Ebenezer Ekubans.

I realize we had some success with Schramm, Landry, and Jimmy Johnson drafting, but those aren't what anybody in this thread was referring to.

I went back through the drafts from 1994 - present --- the Jerry and Bill eras (1994 and bill's drafts are on page 2) , and I think you'll be suprised by the results. Jerry seems spot on in roasting the last 3 draft classes.

The thread also makes my case for why I am happy to see Jerry directing the draft again.

Actually because he knew they were gonna get injured.

I've seen the results dozens of times. With the exception of taking Roy and Gurode early in the 2002 draft -- remember, you were dismissive of the 2003 class because we had high picks -- there's nothing to brag about in the 4 years prior to Parcells.

I'll discuss your analysis in the other thread.
