The Cardinals never won more than seven games in Leonard Davis' six seasons in Arizona. Now they're hosting the NFC championship game.
The Cowboys' 6-6, 350-plus-pound guard claims he isn't stunned by the Cardinals' success. Bigg, who keeps in touch with a handful of his ex-teammates, said they've raved about the new coaching regime since Ken Whisenhunt was hired. He knew when he left for Dallas that the Cardinals had a good young core of talent, headlined by receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, safety Adrian Wilson and defensive tackle Darnell Dockett.
"I'd say a lot of people are underestimating that team," Davis said from Arizona, where he still has a home. "They've got good players on that team. They've got a good coaching staff. And they're having fun."
Davis has come to grips with the Cowboys' disappointing season, saying the Cowboys had their chances but failed to take advantage of them. But, even though he has buddies on the Cardinals and the NFC East rival Eagles ended the Cowboys' season, Davis doesn't have a rooting interest in Sunday's game in Glendale.
"It's one of those deals where if it's not you, you really don't care," he said.
In other Bigg news, he said he bowed out of the Pro Bowl because he needs to rest a sore right foot that bothered him most of the season. He expects to be completely healthy when the Cowboys begin their off-season conditioning program.
