I had been under the impression that he was like Bo Jackson 2.0 and would run 4.3 or even 4.2... Is my memory playing tricks on me? Now I'm reading it's not a big deal, he's a bruiser who will just run over you.

Not a criticism, just curious as I haven't seen much news on this.

He ran the fastest 40 of any RB at least 240 lbs in combine history, I believe.

Yah I read that too. A 4.5 is damn fast and certainly fast enough, just thought he was like a super freak of nature.

I heard sprinter speed as well.....they were saying AD speed........not bad but Zeke, Cook and McCaffrey were all faster

Guy looks explosive on film to me.

when I saw his time at 240, it was surprising. He was barely off of McCaffrey and Cook and he outweighs them by 38 and 30lbs respectively. and he was "overweight" to boot

Regardless of how you view Fournette's 40 time, the rest of his metrics and drill performance was disappointing.

No kidding. I don't really follow college ball, just kinda keep tabs on draftable players.

All I heard, all year, was Fournette was this freak athlete and generational player. Yeah he did it at 240 pounds, but no one made him test at that weight.

Ezekiel Elliott's workouts at 225 were more impressive, imo. He basically performed better on everything than Dalvin Cook and outweighed him by 15 pounds.

McCaffrey outjumped Zeke, while weighing 25 pounds less, but Zeke still ran faster.

Fournette had one of the lowest verticals in the RB class and didn't broad jump. I think he's still going to be good, but with his injury history and testing, I think the hype train was a bit much.

All these 40s posted and I'm just sitting here waiting on 3-cone times.

These top guys don't have to perform wonders since they have tape (well, McCaffrey is arguable) and proof of how much value to put in the numbers can be seen with Zeke last year. Ran a nice 4.47 40, barely in the top 15 doing broad jump, not top 15 in the vertical. Then went out and played All-Pro ball.

Jacobs' official NFL combine time was 4.56

Pro Day results are always faster.

Anyway, I heard Fournette's combine 40 time was the fastest for someone 240 or more (not many backs that big, btw, so fairly small sample) since 2003.

By all accounts...no exceptions....outside of his weak vertical jump....Fournette looked very good yesterday.

nfldraftscout, which is typically always reliable, had him at 4.44 for the Combine (they didn't post his Pro Day time. Even if Jacobs ran a 4.56, he was 27 lbs heavier than even Fournette was.

no way did he run at 240, 10lbs of water weight at weighin guaranteed.......

I want them to step straight off scale onto starting line so they can't "fiddle" stuff,

Hey, Jacobs was explosive for a man so huge.
I wasnt contesting that at all. The question was if Fournette had the fastest Combine 40 time for someone 240 (which seems random anyway) and over.
You said Jacobs topped it. I just pointed out his combine time was 4.56...which any official nfl combine site will verify. I did hear someone topped it back in 2003, but haven't looked it up yet.

Thats all. Not trying to diss Jacobs or you, at all....just was stating the facts. Nothing more.

In fact, whats truly amazing with Jacobs was that his combine vertical was a freakish 37 inches.

Fournette is plenty explosive... the only guy over 240 I can remember running low 4.4 was Vernon Davis , and his combine was obviously historic

Davis may have actually ran in the 4.3s IIRC

Oh, I didn't take it that way man. I was just saying nfldraftscout is usually reliable because they provide both combine and pro day times. They may have messed up. I believe the 4.56 time you listed.

Good call.

I looked it up.
At 254 lbs, Davis ran a 4.38 at the combine in 2006.
His vertical was 42 inches...lol
Total freak
