This is a bit of a crow eating thread.

I'm really liking this "new" Romo.

I've been a Romohomer since 2006 and haven't backed down from that.

I was beginning to worry through the first 2 1/2 games this year, because he really looked off. I was worried he was done.

I am elated to see him back to full health and, yet, he is still (so far) allowing the running game to take the load off his shoulders.

Less Romo is More Romo.

The past few years, I became almost more concerned with Romo's individual stats than with the Cowboys winning. I got to the point that I just wanted Romo to do good so that people would get off his back because I feel he's an elite quarterback.

I'll eat my crow.

If Romo ends the year with a 60% completion percentage, 2,800 yards, 20 TDs and 8 INTs and the Cowboys make noise in the playoffs due to the success of the running game and a decent defense, I'll gladly take it.

Go Cowboys.

Fans can have the Marino like numbers and stats, ill take Aikmans pedestrian stats and championships any day. Im hoping this trend continues for Romo and he gets his championship.

I agree with this entire thread. I'd like to see Tony pass for 250 yards every single week. There isn't even a reason to throw it deep because there's so many options.

I was really worried that Romo was done due to injury. IMO in the first two games he wasn't just bad throwing the ball, he was running into a couple of sacks (some of those sacks on Free I think Romo should have gone inside instead of outside). Now he's making great throws, great decisions, and getting away from pressure.

250 yards a week is 4,000 yards by the end of the year lol. That's a GREAT NFL season lol and is on about on par with what Romo has done if not less.

No surprise here.
QB are like pitchers....higher pitch count typically mean less effective and success.

Romo < 30 attempt more likely results in W's.

I've been saying less is more with Romo for the past 2 seasons.

Now we just have to get him out of audibling so much. He cut it down a bit against the Saints and he had by far his best game this season and one of his best in a long time.

I've been screaming less Romo is more for 2 years now and folk took it as a negative. I'm glad your eyes have seen the glory. Here's to more less Romo!

While I agree, I'd say it's more of a case of more Murray is more Romo. At this point in the 2013 season Murray had 72 attempts for 356 yards and 1 TD. At this point in the 2014 season Murray has 99 attempts for 534 yards and 5 TDs. This has helped Romo throw 34 fewer passes at this point in the season while only being shy 1 TD and 81 yards from where he was last season. He's getting the same results on fewer throws as a result of a balanced offense.

I don't think it's necessarily a new Romo, he just now has the tools around him to be that type of player. This team has always gone as Romo has gone, and that no longer has to be the case.

It's amazing the people that didn't see it that way.

By your count, Murray was averaging 4.99999 yards per carry on those 72 carries. I'd say they would have had just as much balance last year for Romo had they just decided to.call more runs.

Help me get the point of this post.

Normally, when you eat crow, it means you had an opinion about something that was wrong. If you've been wanting people to stop blaming Romo for all of the team's problems, that actually means you've been making sense up until now.

People who think this is happening because Romo is throwing it less are missing the point. If it were just about throwing it less, we could have been doing that for the last four years. In fact, every team would simply count on their QB less and start winning more games. Not that simple.

This is about running it more, because we're running it much, much better. Romo throwing less is just the byproduct, with the predictable success that comes from having a much more complete team. Which is the point of taking note of Romo's stats in the first place -- to show 1) how good he's been despite not having a complete team, and 2) how good the team as a whole could be if his supporting cast were as good as he is.

Yep, Murray was a horse last year too. Nothing has changed there. What's changed is the coaching staffs commitment to running the ball and sticking with it. They don't bail on the run after a 3 and out. Balance isn't achieved by your QB or your RB, it's achieved by your coaching staff, your game plan, and your in game adjustments. They're doing that now and at least through 4 games it's worked.

Agree Percy - it also shows what a shame it's been to have wasted Romo's best years. Maybe he needed to get through some of that stuff to be the player he is now but then I think could he be doing this at 27?

Probably so.

It really felt like I was watching what Cowboys-Saints would've been in 1995.

Dominant OL, steady dose of our workhorse RB, efficient QB making plays when needed.

Man, if our D can just stay healthy...
