I can't wait for TC to start. I am so psyched about seeing some real hitting and not this short and helmet BS.
Here are some key things I'm looking for:
1. will Goodell reinstate Adam Jones before the season starts. I think he will. I know he's said he's going by his time table, but Jones has met all the demands thus far and no new incidents have occurred.
2. Who will emerge as the No. 3 WR. I don't think Glenn will be back. If he is, that's great. But I don't see him lasting long before he blows out his knee again. IMHO, I think Hurd will be the No. 3, with Austin close behind. I wouldn't be surprised if they threw A. Jones out there as a decoy, a la Deion Sanders.
3. Will the real Marcus Spears and Bobby Carpenter please stand up. This has got to be the year that he becomes a solid contributor on the field. With Chris Canty, Jason Hatcher, Marcus Dixon and Stephen Bowen, if he doesn't start showing something, he could be shopped. Maybe this could be the guy we offer up for a WR if it comes to that.
As for Carpenter, I'm not sure he's been given a fair shake, but it's not like he's seized the opportunity either. I didn't like it when we drafted him because I thought he benefited from having two other outstanding LBs alongside him at The Ohio State University. A.J. Hawk is the only one worth a damn, though.
4. When will Anthony Spencer become the starter? Love Greg Ellis. He has been one of my favorite players since we drafted him. But, I realize he's aging, too. There are two factors I'm looking at: 1. the wear and tear on his body, and 2. stunting the growth and maturation of Spencer. Plus that, Spencer is just too good to keep on the sideline.
5. How realistic is it that the Offense and Defense can be better than last year. This is what really has me excited because we did get a lot better in the offseason with the draft and FA period. Jones and Thomas is only going to make this defense better and provide options. I know we haven't see it yet, but F Jones is going to add a dimension to the offense that we didn't have: speed on the outside and a take-it-to-the-house kind of guy.
Here's to TC starting and an awesome season.:toast2:
