Ah me fans, those were good days, the beginning of a Cowboys dynasty.
Aikman slings to Irvin, hands off to Emmitt. On defence? A swarming, hungry stingy, rotating unit that crushed offences and terrified QBs.

It was 1992.
I was in 49er country.
The 49ers were invincible. Or so they said.
Gadzooks! The Cowboys were so good.
So, Invest 15 minutes and re-live the days of the changing of the guard.

1992 is certainly instructive in the context of Cowboys/49ers.
Anything is possible.

I’ll never forget how sick I felt when Rice caught that pass and went 70 some yards on the opening drive. Then the holding was called and the relief set in.

That 92 game is my favorite Cowboy game. We were not supposed to win and the 49ers were about as invincible as you can get and we beat the invincible team. That was a good day.

That holding call negating that 70 yard TD may have saved the Cowboys. It would’ve been tough on the road playing from behind had that play stood up. The crowd went into a frenzy after the 49ers scored, only to be deflated when it was called back. The 49ers never held the lead in that game.

That was honestly the second most fraught and exciting day I ever had as a football fan.

It was first until 2010. But in 2010 I had a bottle of Scotch to get me through.

If ever there was a time, lads, I hope for our special teams to at least contribute 10 points.

Man it was so cool when we were the "young upstart". I was 13 back then and it was the greatest time to be a Cowboys Fan. You looked up to those guys, they truly were your idols. Right before girls started crawling into your head it was a time of doing cool stuff with your buddies, sports, sneaking into adult films in cinemas and driving your parents nuts. It was a time of total freedom, at least that's what it felt like. And on monday morning my two football buddies and me talked nothing but Sunday's games.

Sigh... I love my current life but I sometimes miss those days.

Go Cowboys! Revive the cool kids days. :flagwave:

Thanks @GimmeTheBall! for taking me back for a moment.

The 49ers had a 7-3 lead for a time. Cowboys got off to a shaky start. The 49ers had the ball twice with that lead. Leading to a missed FG and a Ricky Waters fumble. That's your momentum swing right there. Up until that point, all the momentum was still on the 49ers side.

Ultimately, the 49ers lost that game by committing critical penalties, butter fingers, and interceptions. All of which Dallas didn't do. But yeah, that 70 yard TD called back was big. But the guy was being held.

I was 25 and in my prime. Oh the debauchery that night. I went to the corner bar real quick after Norton picked off Young. It was the usual small dumpy bars you see on corners. As I was paying, I could hear some of the patrons saying, it isn't over yet, yeah, it's not over. I made my way to the door, opened it half way, turned around and proclaimed, "It's OVER!" I could hear cursing and possibly a shot glass shattering. But I was in a great mood. Little did I know, it was not over.

I agree. I think if that 70 yarder would have stood I don’t think we would have won. Like I said before I just got sick when Rice was running with the ball with Holt behind him. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when they said holding on the 49ers.

Moose snagging that fumble recovery with one arm is when I knew we were going to win. Didn’t matter what the score was at that time. I was 9 years old and remember it like it was 10 minutes ago.

That Aikman to Harper crossing pattern broke the 49ers back. That's my favorite play in NFL history. It took 11 years to get revenge for our loss in the '81 NFC Championship. That game kicked my guts out. Then I lived in Northern California in the 80s when the 49ers nauseatingly ascended and the Cowboys declined. Beating the 49ers in the NFC Championship that year meant everything to me. And it doesn't bother me that the 9ers got one over on us in '94. That was their sole Super Bowl in the 90s, but the Cowboys got 3.

This team is not as good as the 92 team. Not even close.

I had confidence they would win that game back then. This team? They can't even be trusted to take on the Cards.

So epic at the time. Was that the game Jimmy guaranteed the win. My most favorite was 1971, Staubach became captain America. I was 8 years old and was mesmerized by that game. Great football and good memories. Love to see it again but have my doubts with you know who at QB......we'll see. I didn't say his name so I shouldn't be banned right?
Go put your nose in the corner and beg for forgiveness.

It did, but Dallas needed that TD. On two occasions Dallas got deep into the redzone and got a total of 3 points. Once early on, a first and goal from the 1 and they got a FG. Then late in the game around the 5 yard line when they turned it over on downs. If you do that against a really good team, you usually lose. Thankfully the 49ers were more generous.
