Let's go for It!

They won’t do it. Won’t give up the draft picks. In another year or 2 we will have to pony up money for a QB and RB.

Rams and Aaron Donald can't agree on a deal and Seahawks and Earl Thomas are butting heads.

Let's trade for both while we have the salary cap to handle it.

David Irving and 2019 2nd round pick to the Rams for Donald.
2019 3rd pick to Seattle for Earl.

A couple of things about this would worry me. The first is the idea we should do this "while we have the salary cap to handle it", which at least suggests we might not have it in the future, which in turn suggests we might have other uses for cap space in the future. And, after all, to manage the salary cap the consideration can't be only what we have room for today, but what our needs will be tomorrow. Maybe it's not a problem with the cap expected to go up, but I don't want to get in a salary cap bind that will handcuff us for years ... or a decade. The other is losing both our 2nd and 3rd round pick next year would serious damage our ability to continue to build through the draft, which the team has done well for several years now. Again, maybe not a problem given that we would have quality players in he place of those picks, but it's a concern, especially since the players we could have drafted would cost dramatically less than the ones we got. Being able to successfully draft and keep less expensive players coming into the system is the most effective way of managing the salary cap.

I'd give up next year's #1 for Donald, that boy good!!!

Our mid or late round 1st round pick for Donald...wouldn’t be enough to get the Rams to return our phone call.

It would probably take 2 1st rounder, a 2nd rounder and possibly a 4th to get him away from L.A. It wouldnt make much sense for them to trade them in conference, and strengthen a potential play off team.

I’ll send Brian Price to the Rams for Donald

Then send Frazier to the Hawks for Thomas!

They’d definitely do it :)

In all seriousness, if the Rams were that dimwitted to trade him, this is where the trade talks start.

Donald is a franchise altering DL. Best D in the league. He's getting around this in a trade intra-division, if, for some odd reason Kroenke et al can't get him locked up... for whatever unfathomable reason. Even with the ace of spades Coakley in our back pocket... :)

Coakley is always the trump card.
