Nothing like getting the best pitcher in baseball to help forget the epic collapse of last September. Santana should win 20 games for the Mets and get them to the NL EAst Championship. When the worse thing about the Mets is figurign out who the 5th starter is going to be , It should be a good year... Go Mets!!!!

That still makes me laugh that the local sportswriters thought the Rangers had a shot at landing Santana in free agency next year.

As for the Mets, they should make a good run in the NL this year. Santana is the big addition, but didn't Pedro miss 99% of the season last year? If he comes back at even 50% of what he's capable of giving that lineup, that's good for at least a few extra wins by itself.

Yea, Pedro had surgery at the end of 2006 and missed all of last year except for about 5 starts in September. He says he is healthy he has been in 10 yrs so that is the good news. He is still a fantastic pitcher.

Santana pitched great today. You just know there is not a situation that he can not get out of. 7 innings, 2 runs, 8 strikeouts. Just what Dr Omar ordered.

you have to live in a constant state of depression to be a Cubs fan. They are passionate fans tho. They should be pretty good this year but Kerry Woods has no business being a closer. What is Lou thinking??? Bring back Bruce Sueter. He was nasty....

Yes, go Mets this year! When I was a kid my grandfather (a massive die hard Mets fan) used to take me to Shea all the time for games. I bet he was shaking in his grave last year with that collapse.

griffey jr. only needs 7 or 9 hr to reach 600 career. man if he stayed healthy he'd probably be looking at 800 homers

Griffey was a guy taht did it the right way. Nothing has ever been associated with him other than his God given ability. It is a shame he kept getting hurt the last few years. He would have beaten Ruths record.

Mets will be ok for the next two mnths without Pedro. At least it is his legs and not his arm. Freak injury tho. Mets bullpen looks solid. Now they just have to worry about starters 4 and 5. The other teams in the division look to have worse pitching problems than the Mets. Phillies starters and bullpen is horrid. Atlantas bullpen doesn't look good early on.
