Let's have a real Conversation about Head coaching prospects

Tell me who fits best with the roster and why. I think a younger disciplinarian type HC would be good..but have a suspicion Urban Meyer will be the choice if we go outside. I also think if we stay in house, Kris Richard..but I am not sold.

Lincoln Riley will be the man if JG is ever replaced which i will only believe when i see it.

Meyer has serious health concerns and never Coached pro and Kris Richard is terrible. His Backfield is never prepared, never generates Turnovers and lack discipline.

I wouldnt mind him being fired alongside the rest of the Staff.

Staying in house will be a huge FAIL as far as I am concerned.

This team needs a fresh start with a quality coach, who picks his own staff.

It really doesn't matter. Jones actually hiring who we want is a long shot.

An under the radar hire if its going to be from within could be Kitna.

He has a really talented defensive line though. I just worry about those kind of hires. I've seen them flame out as head coaches in the league more often than not.

I think Urban Meyer will be our next coach.

Lincoln Riley is likely Jerry’s number one choice, but I think Lincoln stays at OU. Top college jobs are more desirous positions than NFL ones in my opinion.

In terms of hiring from within, I don’t think so. Neither Kellen nor Richard have shown enough this season to want to keep them in lieu of a big name hire.

Jon Kitna as HC would cause a complete meltdown on here and on MSM..lol...The guy was a HS teacher when we hired him lol..but he has helped Dak.

It honestly doesn't matter. You can't do worse.

If Kellen Moore stays, you either need a defensive HC or just a walkaround, structure type. If you're going to move on from Moore - go with Riley or someone similar - then you better be ready to invest in more offensive weapons and willing to let defense take a hit.

You watch all the great secondaries and they all do the same thing. Play 3-5 yards off the player the entire time, backpedaling with one eye on the receiver and one eye on the QB looking into the backfield. WR is always in front of them. This allows them to turn and run if they have to, and get a jump on the ball of its thrown in front of them.

At least he was a HC somewhere. Has more experience then the horrid Garrett.

never have understood this infatuation..of the cult thing concerning Lincoln Riley. The guy has trouble beating unranked TCU lol...and THEY want him to coach the Cowboys? is that even an upgrade? LOL

That should be common sense besides the Cowboys. They are 10 Yards away from the Receiver, never turn the head around, never put the Arms up and never have a feel for a Passing Lane. I dont even know what they do in practice. They look lost in every game.

YUP..I think Jerry see's a window of the next 3 years as urgent with this team as constructed..so Meyer would be,in his mind, the quick fix. I cant disagree.My only issue with Urban is he has health issues with his brain..its kinda a big deal.

Any health issues would have to be cleared obviously.

That's who i'm liking. Someone to bring a little energy back to this side of the ball with a new defensive staff who can help us draft/ develop playmakers on this side. Richard and marinelli can go right along with the anti ST coach.
