Let's just give the defense a chance before jumping off the edge

Let's just give the defense a chance before jumping off the edge. We've never seen 90% of these guys play yet.

History and track records show we'll probably suck. But we really don't know.

If we're horrible week 1 against the Niners, I'll be the first to jump off the ledge. But until then, let's just chill.

P.S. This is rum induced. I'll probably create a "Were Doomed!" thread tomorrow.

Considering how good our offense could be, if we're capable of stopping bad offenses, we should win.

We might not beat the Broncos, Saints and Patriots, but we might be able to beat other teams.

My evidence... Our defense looked pretty good against a bad Ravens offense. But there are other offenses as bad as or worse than the Ravens.

I congratulate you on your insane optimism. It will probably make you unreasonably happy throughout your life. Not a bad thing, really. ;)

If it's the 26th ranked defense or lower at the end of the year then I will call it a success.

Only in Dallas do the pleas for patience extend no further than the first game of the season. :)

The defense played well. Our starters shut down Flacco. And.....our starters were still missing three of our top four CBs and Melton.

Most of us are aware that most of the projected defense has not been fielded which is a problem in itself.

The only sample size we currently have has been abysmal thus far to say the least.

I think regardless we will have to wait well into the season before we will know exactly what this defense will be ultimately.

The problem is we will be heavily counting on guys coming off injury to man this defense and the back up defense looks terrible thus far.

So I agree we need to pause before defining the defense, however, thus far the back up players generally speaking have looked really bad save a few.

:)

I'm trying to think, worst concept movie ever: that or Phone Booth.

My god that was a horrible movie. Almost as bad as watching our defense last season. BTW, I've already jumped and I've returned from the dead to haunt Jerry...

I agree.

On a side note, I haven't really seen much of this current Jacksonville Jaguars team. I have no idea if they'll be a contender this year or not.

Yes the starting D was fine tonight missing both starting DTs and 2 of your top 3 CBs. Once they started shuffling guys in, everything fell apart. No depth.

Defense wasn't bad tonight. The 1st team anyway. I mean its just hard to judge this defense when our starters aren't out there. We're not at a full deck. And our backups are getting some much needed reps. Before anyone jumps off the ledge over this defense you have to factor in we haven't technically seen this defense yet. Or the one that will see 1st week of the season.
