Let's make it personal: John Bonham vs. Keith Moon

I'll take Bonham. Both were absolute beasts, but Bonham has a lot more range as a drummer. Keith was incredible, but he only had one style: energizer bunny.

Agreed. Man I love Keith Moon (Animal from the Muppets) but Bonzo is the Real Deal Holyfield. Hammer of the Gods!

I love Keith Moon. But he isn't as good a drummer as Bonham on his best day. I think the only drummer in the same sentence as Bonham is Peart. The only other drummers I even think of in the same light as those three are Carl Palmer and Buddy Rich.

Bonham's best drumming? Moby Dick.

There's so many great drummers that most people don't know, but I'll throw Carter Beauford of the Dave Matthews band in here....he's incredible. Here's a sample:

I think the only drummer in the same sentence as Bonham is Peart.

They might be at the top of the rock and roll heap, but there are tons of better drummers, you just gotta know where to look (mostly jazz/fusion)
