Ok, Parcells said he wasn't going to think about Philly yet.

So, I guess it's all up to us.....;)

What matchups do you think we'll try to exploit against Philly?
What matchups favor them?

I think our OL vs their DL will be key...duhhh....If we can pick up their blitzes, I like how our WRs (and Witten) matchup vs their secondary.

Hopefully, we'll get the calm, cool Bledsoe. If we get the skittish Bledsoe, we're in deep doo. If he can avoid mistakes in the first quarter, then we'll be ok.

I think our secondary matches up well with their WRs....but Stallworth is a wildcard here. He's awfully fast. He burned us in 2003. The part of their passing game that concerns me is their TEs and RBs. We have to take Westbrook out of the game. He's the key when we're on defense. I don't know that we have a LB that can stay with him.

McNabb is healthy and playing great. He's an average QB if you can get pressure on him (well, I guess that's true of most QBs). If we can't get to him, it may be a long day.

So, what do we do?

I'd try to establish the running game early. Jones has been running well lately. Don't force anything to TO. Find Witten, and take advantage of any single coverage on Glenn. Max protect on any third and long.

On defense, key on Westbrook. Don't let him beat us. Be aware that the Eagles will try to use the screen at every opportunity. Blitz McNabb....

Right now, I think our teams are pretty even. Their crowd will be out for blood....literally.....this game reminds me of the 92' Philly game at the Vet. Super-hyped game....but we weren't quite jelled as a team yet. We were overwhelmed by the entire frenzy of it all.

I hope we make a better showing than that day.

I'm not into predictions.....

Without Javon Kearse, they have an average front 4. Theur secondary is one of the worst in football (statistically speaking), and Trotter is their only standout at RB.

Personal wise, I actually think they have less talent on defense than most teams in football, especially with Kearse gone.Sheppard and Brown are both terribly overrated

Kearse's replacement, Trent Cole, is leading the NFL in sacks isn't he? Howard's also played well. So, their DL isn't bad. They are undersized, but Trotter seems to be a one-man run stopper on defense.

I agree that their CBs are soft. We should be able to beat them. But, you know how Bledsoe plays in a hostile environment. Sometimes good, sometimes pitiful.

If we can stop Westbrook and get some pressure on McNabb we will win. Our offense can score on any team in this league.

I thought the Titans we going to blitz more than they did, and was hoping they would as it would have helped the o-line prepare better for Jimmy Johnson and the eagles D blitz packages. They are pretty banged up in the secondary so I dont know if Johnson will be free to do everything he;d like to do but the guy is too aggressive to not blitz us more than we have seen at anytime this season so far.
That said, I think we have too many weapons for them to match up against in the passing game. If the o-lne continues it solid perfromance, then we put up about 20-24 for sure.

I think in this game we have a huge advantage in the passing game because their secondary isnt as good as it used to be and without Kearse we can focues our attention on Howard. Owens will be doubled and triple teamed for obvious reasons so all i gotta say is GO DEEP TO GLENN EARLY AND OFTEN!!!! then on D just dont let Westbrook get in the open field and make McChoke throw the ball under pressure where he is horrible and we should have a good chance to win.

We don't really cover RB's or TE's well, and those are Philly's two biggest weapons. Plus with the energy of the crowd, its going to be a very difficult win.

Exactly....that's a huge worry.

We'd better make some kind of adjustment there. LJ Smith is really starting to come into his own.

Bledsoe is the key, he doesn´t have a very good history in high pressure games, hopefully he will have a good game on sunday.

I pray Jim Johnson blitzes 8 guys all day long. Our offense will have a field day

If Gurode can't play I will be very concerned w/protection up the middle. I'll be plesantly surprised if AJ can do the job.

I think Newman can neutralize Stallworth. I'd have Glenn on Westbrook on obvious passing downs.

My 2 cents - If they blitz, we have to go up top to Owens/Glenn . We need to test them deep and see if they want to continue blitzing. Outside runs will be crucial in this game, can we do it?

We need to beat Stallworth up on the LOS, and Ware needs to get pressure on McKnabb or else we'll have to blitz like crazy.

If Ware can consistantly put pressure on McKnabb, we can conserve our blitzes, and leave no where for McCrap to throw.

McBriar will be crucial in this game as well. If we go 3 and out, we need to keep them pinned.

I almost wonder if AJ would be a better match for Philly. He does alright against 4-3 teams without huge DTs.

Philly's DTs:
Grasmanis 6-3 298
Jasper 6-2 293
Patterson 5-11 291
Rayburn 6-3 303
Walker 6-3 294

No massive DTs. AJ is a solid pass protector, and does OK calling the protections.

I would rather have Gurode there for the running game. I would like to see us overpower Philly.

But I don't think AJ would be a bad fit this game.

Actually, Gurode has been a dominant pass rusher.. I've studied all of his plays this year.

Biz I'll be more than happy to say "I was wrong".....AJ did play well against Philly last season esp. the first game.

I think it comes down to shutting down their defense. Philthy's D-Line is hurting and their secondary is questionable. We will score points, but our defense has to contain McNabb who is having a great start.

Philly wants to beat us BADLY after being swept last year and their fans will be into it, so we can't let ourselves get rattled and lose focus from the gameplan. This is probably the biggest game of the year, because Philly will likely win tomorrow night, and if we lose next week and the Foreskins win, we will find ourselves in 3rd place.
