Don't think that thought hasn't crossed my mind too.
I'm glad you changed that. it didn't make any sense before.

Danny Amendola guys....amirite?

Can you imagine if he had committed one of the numerous pass interferences on Saturday? (none of which were committed by Roy, interestingly enough)

It was like watching Atari Bigby trying to cover Miles Austin, guys. Deep ball coverage was a gimme for SD.

Why isn't there more outrage about this? We've got plenty over Danny (who doesn't really have a history of fumbling in the NFL, iirc from my studies), but none over about 100 yards in PI penalties.

Shocking imo.

I was told Atari Bigby deserved to go to the Pro Bowl more than Roy Williams.

And I was told that Packer fans loved Atari Bibgy, when, despite me living in Wisconsin amongst thousands of Packer fans (admittedly, not all sober) my recollections said otherwise.

Those would be Ice Pirates, not to be confused with the butt ones.

Great story.

Tell me more about your time in the great white north.

Yamon Figurs guys....am I right or am I right? Pray to god Bill Bellichick is not giving those morons the night off after getting served by possibly the worst team in the entire league.

I still dont think it was PI. If RW would have been the one flag I still would not think it was PI. I'm watching the game right now and saw it again and I still dont think it was PI.

Let's pretend for a minute that instead of Anthony Henry and Ken Hamlin making a Charger sandwich last Saturday that it was Roy Williams and Anthony Henry, or even Jenkins/Jones...

Paint me a picture of what your reaction would be - or what you think the front page of the forum would look like, or where you think Roy-haters would be rubbing their cocoa-butter after making a new thread about the play.

It's fair game, honestly. These things just cross my mind.

Let's not.

I was fine with the call on the field, I just wish it was more consistent. Hamlim barely touched him and turned to look for the ball before initiating contact. If they were going to call that, they should have called one when Stanback got behind the corner immediately, Brad threw a short pass and the corner prevented Stanback from going back for the ball.

i'd say if your gonna do it get it out of your system now. some people fail to realize not only was it a preseason game but the 1st one this year. these guys haven't played real football in 7 months. they will still be shaking off the rust next week too probably.

I'd say it was a bad call and i've been down on Roy.

But I give Roy credit where credit is due and blame where its due.

and i think the most ardent basher of roy thinks they're being fair as well.

Should we also pretend that none of these players have a history of making or not making these plays? If that's the case, then the ref was definitely a nit-picking SOB,,, otherwise it's Roy's fault :)

I could care less about a players "history". This "guy" is one "of" the highest paid safeties in the NFL - and he just flat out blew it.

Unbearable load.

Hamlin's a little too worried about making preseason Sportscenter and talking to Red Jesus imo...needs to rededicate himself.

When Hamlin makes it a 3 year habit, there will be a ton of outrage if Hamlin keeps getting burned. It took over 2 years before people began to wake up to how badly Roy's play had declined. A lot of people didn't finally own up to it until the coaches actually started taking him off the field because he was such a liability. They honestly felt Roy was no worse than any other safety in coverage. The denial was unbelievable. I'm still not sure some people believe it, even when Campo comes out and admits he's not the same player.

But somehow if Hamlin's play dramatically drops off the way Roy's did, I don't see a lot of people staunchly defending him every step of the way the way a lot of people did Roy. Not a lot of people own a Ken Hamlin replica jersey and there is nowhere near the degree hero worship and emotional investment involved as there was with Roy.

And change his number.

Don't forget he needs to change his sleeve length, as well.

God forbid his chior comes to practice.

So what you're saying is not only does Hamlin not have the reputation as a poor coverage guy that would be necessary to have hordes of people crucify him on the innernets, but he also doesn't have the goodwill built up from years of stellar play to have defenders on the other side, enabling both parties to engage in an epic battle played out over and over again in the exact same manner?

This is something we'll have to work on. I guess we're going to need a few more years of Hamlin being one of the best and highest paid safeties in the league and then screwing up every few games before we can really run him out of town.

Or his coaches outright admitting that he's a huge liability by taking him off the field in passing situations.

You have to love it when the guys that whine the most about RW threads start one.

Carry on, young hypocrites, carry on.

Good point. Needed to rededicate himself, got big money, and then sucked it up right out of the gate.

Not impressed, so far.
