Jimmy Johnson used to say you have to win 2 of 3 phases to win a football game... the phases are Offense, Defense, and Special Teams.

On paper the Cowboys have a edge on offense, lost on defense, and special teams is up in the air for the Charges game.

The main emphasis should be to establish the Running Back. Notice I did not say running game. Establish the All Pro RB on the ground and in the air and it will open up everything on offense. If the defense gives up another 30 points, the Cowboys will lose as usual.

Minimalists.

Our special teams will suck for a while against most teams... so our offense and defense better make up for it.

We don’t have an all pro running back

The Chargers are going to try to run all over the Cowboys. Book it! Our goal this offseason was to fix our run defense. This will be the test if we were successful or not. Future opponents will make note of this matchup and plan accordingly. So we better do well defending the run this week or there will just be more of the same in the coming weeks.

Likewise, the Cowboys need to redeem themselves with an honest effort to establish the ability to run the ball. Also, red zone efficiency will need to be made a priority.

As for special teams, Coach John Fassel should be on the hot seat. Questionable decisions to kick short on kickoffs and limit starting kicker involvement in the preseason have backfired and greatly contributed to the team's loss in TB. How quickly can Fassel turn things around?

I had a really good lamb gyro yesterday in Grand Rapids. $8.99 and a TON of lamb meat, it was sticking out the sides and falling out of the footlong pita.

What a coincidence, I had a lamb & beef gyro yesterday with side of fried brussel sprouts with bacon, carmelized onions & feta. The gyro's are always great but the sprouts were outta this world. Never had them like that before .... but I will be having them again!!

Everyone knows Grand Rapids is famous for obnoxiously large Lamb gyros.

My goodness.

I think defense will improve under Quinn, the Tampa game was a big test after all Tampa avg 30 points a game last season. I felt defense did some good things to create turnovers and that needs to continue. Tampa did not run much so that part of the defense still remains a question and while Diggs did a good job on his side Brown was getting torched thought out the game, he either needs to his head out of his backside or Cowboys need to look to the bench for replacement. For me not ready to give up on defense, I think Quinn will adjust and make needed moves to get more out of this defense.

I think pollard should be a significant part of the running game. This silliness if being a sub for when zeke raises his hand is....stupid.

Have a game plan that can be adjustable and take advantage of both skill sets....by surprise and subterfuge.

Offense, Defense AND Special Teams, you say?

I have to write that down.
If you write that down, do you mind making a copy of it and sending it to the Cowboys' front office? Write it with a large crayon in case it goes straight to Jerry or something.
