both pretty boy receivers hail from new jersey.

both were undrafted coming out of college.

both had breakout years seemingly coming out of nowhere.

and both required a big pay day following those breakout seasons.

imo, jerry got caught up in the hype and overpaid for miles. no way should he have a bigger contract than andre johnson.

it will be interesting to compare how the giants organization handle cruz vs. miles austin.

cowboy fans are so forgetful. When Austin is healthy he is a dominant force. Remember the 49ers game? Andre Johnson was injured this year, I guess he isn't worth his contract either? Austin's contract isn't as bad as it looks. The cowboys could cut him i think next year and the cap hit wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Miles Austin is nowhere near the level of A. Johnson, and besides, A. Johnson has been dominating the league for years, unlike the one year wonder boy Miles Austin.

It's going to be a looooooooong off season. He's a one year wonder because he's only spent an entire season with tony once. 2010 tony missed the majority of the season and miles had a pretty good season considering the guys that were throwing the ball. And I'm sure you know that he wasn't able to get over his hamstring issues this past season. Austin is the best WR the Cowboys have and IMO some of you have some absurd standards you expect these guys to live up to.

Where teams like the Lions/TeXans/Cardinals have a stud (A) recievers (Megatron/AJ/Fitz) and then mediocre receivers around them, I feel like the Cowboys have B+ recievers in Miles and Dez and a B receiver in Laurent Robinson

IMO Dez has the talent to be a stud

Dez does have the talent but it's looking like he doesn't have the head. I have confidence hell get it together, the question is when.

Also those guys are studs and look where they were drafted and the Cowboys have been forced to work with where they are drafting. How much worse would this place be if Dallas was consistently picking in the top 5

AJ #3 overall
CJ #2 overall
LF #3 overall

i agree with that assessment. which is why i say austin is overpaid. he is paid like a (A) stud receiver. he drops too many passes and has too many miscommunications w/ romo to be a top tier guy. he should have been paid in the 5yr/40 million range.

So what was his contract? 5 yrs 45 mil? Is that really that big a difference?

Edit: It was 6 yrs 54 mil. It's still not much more than what you say he's worth.

I was against that contract before it was signed.

These things happen when the guy writing the checks pretends he's a talent evaluator.

I guess we've bashed on Dez enough, and now it's time to focus on bashing Miles Austin. Who will be next?

Might as well get after Stephen Jones since he is the one working hand in hand with the agents. Maybe we can bash the agents too.

Victor will not be an UFA, Miles would of been.

That makes a difference.

Miles "required" a big pay day following his breakout season? He was an RFA.

Cruz is a year from being an RFA.

Those are two very different situations

not true.

miles would have been a restricted free agent. cowboys could have tendered him a 1st/3rd round pick or franchise tagged him. they were not in complete desperation mode yet which is why i think jerry overreacted.

Wait, was this when the UFA got bumped from 4 years to 7?

Sorry for the mistake, saw that he was with us in 2006, and signed the contract in 2010.
