I have to admit, even I vomited in my mouth a little bit upon hearing that the Cowboys sent out playoff tickets to season ticket holders before the season started.

The amount of ridicule I had to endure from my Giants-loving friends and family (though, who are they to talk?).

Well, who's laughing now?

What's the conspiracy behind this though. I think it was a smart idea, and other teams will follow suit.

I have those tickets, though I had until December 8th to put in to actual, purchase them. I have not done so yet, as I'm not sure i would be in town in January. So I wasn't going to buy them, then not be here, then had to try to sale them on short notice. Let alone hear people whine about a non fan buying them. So I would let a cowboy have a chance.

However, looks like I'll be in town now. So if we win Sunday, I'll see if the invoice is still there online for me to buy them. Then I'll go to any home games.

In the past, when I did put in to buy them, then if they had a game, it was a scramble to get the tickets, and then try to sale them. This year, it's not that way. If I do get them, I could list them for sale immediately if I couldn't go.
This was a good move to do so.

@jazzcat22 I agree that other teams will follow suit. Say what you want about Jerry, he's an innovative money maker and some of it actually satisfies the fans as well as his pockets.

Good thread. Despite having our worst defense (statistically) last year, we were one game away from winning the NFC East and making the playoffs. Matter of fact, we were knocking on the door for 3 straight years. We just came up short due to not being healthy in key areas.

Look at us now: in control of our destiny. Again. The sky's the limit for this team. I believe.

was it playoff tickets or nfc championship tickets?

I'm not implying that it wasn't a good business move. I think it's a good idea. I'm mainly referring to the reaction of the rest of the NFL fan base, giving us hate and assuming it was a pompous move, etc. That's what I didn't like...the ridicule.

It was just another chance for our rivals to poke fun and gave them an excuse to talk about how we haven't made the playoffs in 4 years, how we have the worst defense in NFL history. And so on, you guys know all the storylines.

But here we are, with a good chance to go 12-4. That's right, the same record as at least one of our 90's super bowl wins if I remember correctly. All this, with supposedly the wost defense in the history of the league, a QB who is washed up and will never recover from his back injuries, etc etc.

But as Idgit said, we still technically haven't made the playoffs yet. Hope I didn't jinx us with this thread. :)

Knock on @Wood, and you should be ok. This time. Don't push it, though. We'll come back to this one in 5-6 hours or so, hopefully. :)

I've been thinking about this for the past month. I didn't want to post about it because of the jinx factor. I never felt it was the Cowboys trying to send a message. I just figured it was how the Cowboys organization explained it. With Christmas right around the corner some people might not have the money on short notice.
Smart decision by the Cowboys front office. Don't be surprised to every team doing this in the future.
