6' 215 with 4.5 speed. Played FS at VT his 1st 2 years before moving to CB in 2012. Missed pretty much all of 2013 because of an ACL tear in a pick up b-ball game in the off season. He definitely fits the mold of the the new hybrid CB/FS to combat the spread. Definitely looks the part of a S too, the guy is jacked. CBS has him as a 4th/5th round prospect at the moment. Wouldn't surprise me if we have to grab him in the 3rd come May, but he's definitely worth a look.

Some tape of him playing FS back in 2011

I would rather take a chance on Terrence Brooks who was moved from CB to FS.

I don't think Jerry will spend another mid round pick on safety. No reason to after they did just last year. To early to give up on Wilcox. Either draft one early or don't draft one. We need a day one starter at safety not another mid rounder that's going to take time away from Wilcox.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I am not advocating drafting Exum, but the fact that he is running like he has after blowing out his knee is pretty remarkable. He is going to make someone pretty happy on the second day of the draft.

So you're plan would be to just throw Wilcox out there at FS and hope for the best despite the fact that he showed 0 ability to do it last year? He's a SS and so is Church. We leave those 2 at safety and they will be burnt...just like last year. I think Wilcox has a future here, just not while Church is also starting at safety. We need a true FS next year or we are going to be in serious trouble....just like last year.

He's been on my list of big CBs that can tackle and potentially move over to FS. I think CBS Sports has it right though - early Day 3 - especially with losing most of 2013.

What I like about him is he is not reacting after the play develops. He seems to understand what the offense wants to do and what's going to happen, he's not waiting around until it's obvious. Intelligence or just reading the QB's eyes? I heard during a game (last year maybe) he was already well into getting his Masters, so it at least seems he has it together upstairs.

What else do you do. Draft another mid round safety and throw him out there with no idea how he will handle the NFL.

I say get a vet or draft one early. I'm just tired of mid round safties.

You can't lump every safety drafted outside of the 1st round together. Heck what positions have we actually drafted well in the mid rounds? According to your logic we should pretty much just forfeit our mid round picks.

I wouldn't be against taking a safety if one fell to us but historically Jerry hasn't placed much emphasis on safety and Kiffin reinforced that with his comments last year. Add Jerry's comments this year and it doesn't seem very likely.

Which is crazy because opposing Quarterbacks and Offensive Coordinator sure seem to put a ton of emphasis on our Safeties.

I was plugging Exum into early mocks as a round 6 guy we could essentially redshirt.

With his combine showing it probably takes a round 4 pick now to get him and I am not sure we can do that.
Probably still needs a redshirt year to learn scheme and adjust to NFL but could help right away on special teams.

Brooks is a stud but he won't last past round 3. Very much like his even more impressive running FSU safety mate, he has insane skill and speed just a bit short.

No I think you look at what position has Depth of good talent. Like this year OL and WR in the mid rounds make more sense for us than taking another Safety mid round to add to Wilcox.

Going by your logic if a draft pick doesn't make the pro bowl year one draft another I. The same round. How good is Wilcox if you don't give him another shot.

Look I'm all for BPA and if that's your guy great but looking at this OL and WR class I think that is the BPA in the 3rd and 4th.

I just don't think he or any of these mid round guys are day one starting FS. Why draft him if he can't be a goood starter day one. That's just IMO.
