Let's talk about Dallas intangibles

the only team players will take less to go play for is the patriots dallas lost that a long time ago players play for the MONEY whoever and where ever they pay the most of it and Stephen is now cheap

Don't count Cooper as the exception, he hasn't signed anything yet.

Not to worry, the Cowboys' front office will likely make sure he won't get away.

He's not greedy like DL and way too valuable to our offense to let that happen.

Im not just talking about the Cowboys team, I'm talking about the DFW Metroplex as well. If Dallas is trying to keep a guy like Tank or recruit a FA, what advantages does Dallas have? Any disadvantages?

I would think Dallas would be viewed as a significantly better destination than:

1. Cleveland
2. Pittsburg
3. Baltimore
4 Cincinnati
5. Green Bay
6. Buffalo
7. Washington
8. Philadelphia
9. Kansas City
10 Carolina
11. Tampa Bay
12. Minnesota
13 New Orleans

Questionable depending on what the player is looking for:

Vegas
Los Angeles (2)
Seattle
Miami
Houston
New England (Boston)
New York (2)
Arizona
Chicago
Atlanta

I would think that in terms of quality of life, and surroundings that Dallas would be top 5 for most players. Add in visibility and really only New York compares.

I am not sure I would put the Metroplex over areas like DC, Philly, Minneapolis.

Quality of life, etc. are but some factors. As has been noted by many, money is a huge factor and you've seen athletes choose, Florida, for example because of tax situations.

no doubt he signs but much doubt he wont ask for near record numbers.

It's possible, although, I do believe the FO is prepared to do what it takes to accommodate him.

Lawrence, though, is essentially preparing to bite the hand that feeds him. Not a wise decision.

This front office is weak. Both guys probably get signed to moster deals at the last minute and then say they can't sign a DT or Safety worth a dam or draft one either.

Hard to say for sure but the facts are such that Dallas can ill afford to let either one of them go without doing their best to get by within reason.

They're fully aware, I'd say, that both their offense and defense wouldn't be the same without them. We'll see what develops. It just takes time.

Others have noted that location rarely seems to play much of a factor. But even so, I would question a bunch of those places you listed.

The communities of Pittsburgh and Green Bay really love their football teams, which has to be a draw (and Pittsburgh is very livable).
Apart from that, not sure why you would think Baltimore/Washington, New Orleans, or North Carolina would be inherently less desirable locations for people with money, depending on what the player is looking for. And Minneapolis/St. Paul is nice if you don't mind the cold. Lord knows I'd pick any of those over Phoenix or Houston.

It's all about the money unless it's close then the Cowboys can win a tie-breaker with the facilities they offer and the endorsement opportunities, if it's a smart player. But these players are not looking to settle down and where they play is not usually where they end up unless their wives are attached or they have school age children.

The lack of a state income tax can be balanced by property taxes, depending on where they buy. Their agents net out everything for them.

I do not know if the team is the lure it once was like Parcells saying it completed his resume. That whole America's Team thing is tired. Do any players really care about that?

But the real factors, besides the money, are the ones unknown to us.....the players' network. These guys talk to each other, they find out what the coaches are like and how the teams treat their players. They have their own network, just like the coaches do.

If you are an O player and have the choice to play for a couple of different teams and the money is a wash, what would be your deciding factors? Would one with an owner that has openly invited the brand new OC to circumvent the last year of his contract HC be a lure to you? Does that not have shades of that disaster with Phillips when it started to unravel written all over it? He may not have meant it and it may not happen but wouldn't you prefer a more traditionally run football team?

The "within reason" part you referred to is where the rubber meets the road.

Cowboys fans are hilariously delusional sometimes.

The Metroplex is actually just a sun-blasted concrete anus that offers nothing you can't get in any other decent-sized city, and it's been a generation since the "America's Team" stuff had any meaning to anybody.

Endorsements you say? Peyton Manning was an endorsement god while playing for INDIANAPOLIS, a white trash flyover dump that's every bad stereotype of the South except with cold winters, worse food and a higher density of Klan chapters. It really doesn't matter, plus as a media market Dallas is like 4th fiddle or something.

The Cowboys are only an attraction insofar as agents believe they can rip off Jerry Jones.

1. Party bus
2. Stripper poles
3. Nice weather in Oxnard for training camp
4. Season ends by mid-January

Dudes want to win or get paid...period.
Stephen ain't paying and this team ain't winning no super bowls.
