Lets talk about why we passed the ball so much

Could it be because of two things?

1. They made us dink and dunk down the field.

2.6 turnovers giving the offense the ball back all night.

Or we can go with the myth that these are the same Cowboys based on this games box score.

I think when Dunbar comes back, you won't see the lop sided numbers. Murray picked up good consistent yardage, but couldn't break any long. If we broke a few, we likely would've scored more, and all the passes would've been unnecessary.

With Brian Waters in the line-up, that will give two solid guards to run behind on either side. This will help open up some running lanes. The thing with Romo is he will audible out of a play if he sees favorable coverage for a pass route. That is taking what the defense gives you, not sticking to some kind of quota of run/pass plays.

Do you guys think this offense will resemble the '02 Raiders offense, where Rich Gannon dinked and dunked down the field every game, or this is just a by-product of the way the Giants were playing us? I can't help but think of that offense since there is the common tie of Callahan.

It was a Giants thing because Corey Webster isn't good enough to see Dez one on one. I mean, ogletree let him up.

And I don't but that it was Romos fault for audibiling out of run plays. 3rd and 7 we should run?

I think when you take a look at the Giants defense, this is how you want to attack them. Attack their weakness not their strengths.

Yea their weakness is the middle of the field which is where we did most of our damage. They had Dan Connor starting for them. Dan Connor would be on our bench right now.

Yes, But Romo loves to call his own number. He reminds me of an NBA shooting guard who always wants to take the shot. When he gets Hot things get moving, but when he's cold he still keeps shooting 3's.

Regardless of what the numbers say, this team just can't run with any kind of consistency. If we run for six yards on first, we'll run for one on second and it's back to passing time. When you move the chains from running the ball, you set up a nice little mix up on first down on whether you will keep running or throw a pass. Instead it's just the same old futile rushing attempts until a passing down is reached.

I've been saying it for years it's not Garrett it's Romo and it has always been Romo, he changes plays at the line more then anyone not named Payton Manning

It does not surprise me that we passed that much. We took what the D was giving us. They played to take Dez and Murray out of the game.

the play is changed based on what the defense does. just like most every team in the nfl does

That's his job as a QB. Read the defense and take what they are giving you. Or, he can leave the play alone and run the ball into a 9 man front.

51 pass plays
23 run plays

Playing the game never trailing, that is not the balanced attack we want to see for sure.

was it a 9 man front on all those times he changes the play ? Was it even an 8 man front ? Id have to go back and see the game. Do we really think our coaches are going to continue to run into an 8 man front ?

I understand the concept of allowing the QB to make changes based on the reads - but if your QB thinks he knows more than the coaching staff - well that could develop into a problem.

Yes, but sometimes you have perfectly viable run options or fairly viable run options.

QB's love to pass and Romo is no different. To his credit, with Dunbar out running the ball more could be more risky since if one of the backs gets hurt, then we have some real issues and we need to give Murray some rest. Murray had 20 carries, so I'm fine with that.

Really?!

Seriously most people know that it's just funny how Garrett took the blame for this for years when it didn't go well

perhaps they felt that they had to out-score NY? I would think that the KC game (on both sides of the ball) will be more deliberate
