If we trade back a little at pick 20, I would be perfectly fine taking him. Everyone knows we need a middle linebacker maybe 2 in this draft (if we don't pick on up in FA).

Anthony HIll Jr seems very underrated in this draft for some reason. What's wild is he had 17 total sacks in 3 years at the linebacker position. I almost wonder could he be like Micah Parson's and move from linebacker to a edge rusher (if needed). He has an explosive first step. And has proven he can get to the QB. Especially last season. He had 8 sacks last season. His last season tape and number were better than Arvell Reese's number this season.

I know he doesn't have Reese size and potential but man he looks like a dawg on the field. I would love for him to be one of the starting ILB's. He has sideline to sideline speed and can hit. He started for Texas all 3 years including his freshman year.

Why is he ranked so low?

He's a player who probably won't produce at a high level year 1 but by year 2-3 he will be a playmaker.

I'll preface by saying that I like Anthony Hill and would very much be down to get him on early day 2, even end of round 1 in a trade down wouldn't bother me.

His negatives when I watched him were ability to diagnose, sometimes he misdiagnosed and took himself out of the play (happens with everyone, including Styles), sometimes he was slow to diagnose which worries me a little bit more. On the positive side, when he sees something he goes full steam ahead and if he makes a mistake he commits instead of standing around being useless, sometimes that hustle can make up for a bad read.

The other detractor for me was in play awareness. Sometimes he'll go in and absolutely demolish the first blocker, but he would be so locked in on taking out that blocker that he doesn't even try to get an arm on the back slipping by him which could have slowed him down or even stopped him. Same thing when blitzing and he knew someone was coming to take him on, I felt he left some pressures and maybe even sacks on the table by focusing on nailing his blocker rather than getting past them.

He's also not as good in man coverage as some top ILBs in the past, but he's not bad and is solid to great in zone. Really good about getting back to a spot when he backs off the line and then making a read off the QB or receiver. Very fluid moving in space.

Hes also a good tackler and despite the awareness issues a good blitzer. I do see the risk with him of turning into a Patrick Queen type where he's a better athlete than football player, but he's worth the gamble.

The problem with Hill is he looks like an all world player when going downhill and attacking the ball.
But when asked to sit back, diagnose, and fight through blocks he looks pretty pedestrian.

He’s still fairly new to off ball LB so it makes sense that his instincts aren’t great, but there is definitely some projection/risk in him becoming a complete LB.

I do like Hill a good bit though, just don’t know if he’s a 1st round pick

His coverage needs to to be coached, but he has the skills for it. He can three phase guy. I like him alot better than Allen who is too janky. You might have to take Allen off the field on passing downs. I don't think he will be able to cover NFL TE's
