Cowboys Offense vs Eagles Defense...

I hope we spread the field with a bunch of WR's to put more pressure on the Philly DB's. It will be really interesting to see if Philly blitzes and how much they do it. They will show mucho guts if they blitz and could lead to some big plays. Our passing attack could potentially own their DB's IFFFF the OL plays as well as it did the last 2 weeks. Protect Bledsoe and he will slice you up. Gurode, Kosier, and Flo owned TEN, WAS DL's and it will be really interesting to see how they do against Philly running the ball. If we start running well it will take tons of pressure off the offense. Philly not having Kearse is a big loss.

Philly Offense vs Cowboys defense...

Philly's OL is very very good but I don't know if they have been truly tested yet. They owned the Giants DL but the Giants DL has struggled so far. The one thing that scares me is giving McNabb to much time. Another thing is how our defense tends to be vulnerable with dink passes. I am afraid that if we play McNabb like we did Vince it will not work. McNabb is healthy so I really think you are going to see this defense the most aggressive we have seen them all year.

Keys to the game goes to one aspect alone and that is the play of the OL.

I have a couple questions for you guys...

1) What weaknesses do you see in the Philly defense that we can exploit and do you think they will blitz us?

2) How do you think Dallas D will approach Mcnabb and their offense?

Thoughts?

The eagles secondary can be beat by TO or T Glenn. It may be hard to run on them early. I really like the matchups of our TE's against their LB's and passes to RB's against their LB's. Their LB's are not great at coverage.

How about Barber lined up wide a couple of times with the empty backfield set, yeatsrday. Would like to see some of that agaisnt the eagles, but bledsoe better check down more often and not hang in the pocket looking for the homerun if we go empty backfield.

So you don't think TG or TO will have success? Good point on the TE vs LB.

I would like to see the spread offense as well! Last year in the last game that gave us the most success because Philly would blitz and that would put TG 1 on 1.

oops, that was a typo. i'll go back and edit. no, the eagles dline is good, their secondary is average.

To or Glenn can beat the coverage, but will bledsoe have time to throw.

Start by exploiting the LB's, Trotter is a force against the run, but send witten deep on him 10-15 yards and the RB underneath him. That will force their safety up and allow for Glenn and TO to get some big plays.

I see our WR's beating their DB's and I see their WR's being controlled by our DB's.

Unless we endup -3 in turnovers (which is certainly possible) we should win this game.

I don't see them blitzing all day if we can hurt them early with multiple recevier sets. They are beatable if they don't blitz, or we can block 'em.

How great would it be if GB pulled out a win tonight? :)

I agree, I think we'll blitz a lot more than against the Titans. It looked like our gameplan against Vince was to force him to beat us with his throws out of the pocket and not let him scramble on broken plays.

Against Philly last year our pass rush was very effective. McNabb spent a lot of the first game on the ground and was pressured into throwing that late interception in the second game.

Besides, I'm comfortable with Newman on Stallworth and Henry on Reggie Brown even if they are on islands.

This game is going to get super bowl type hype our players can't buy into this. Win or lose we have many games a head of us and too put to much emphasis on 1 game this early can be the kiss of death for the losing team if they place too much importance on it. This is a divisional game nothing more.

Home field advantage is huge in this series. Last year both crowds came out fired up. The Cowboys were able to survive the early onslaught from the Eagles to win the game (need I remind everyone that I was at the game and I still get chills when I see the highlights of that Roy Williams pick).

The problem is none of us really know just how good this Eagles team is. They will probably be 3-1 at kickoff, with three wins against three of the worst teams in the league, and one home loss to a Giants team that is an enigma of its own.

As for matchups, I love the way the Cowboys offense matches up against the Eagles defense. Will Jim Johnson risk sending the house to get to Bledsoe and leave his questionable secondary one on one against Owens and Glenn? I think that he'll try to get pressure with his front four first and only send the dogs in the second half if it's not working.

Which brings me to the key to the game, protecting Bledsoe. If our o-line can handle their front four, and in particular if we can give Bledsoe the time he needs during the blitz, we will make them pay.

I would think if they are sending LB blitzes Witten and Fasano should have a big game. Safety blitz take the one on one with Glenn or Owens. I think Jim Johnson will be sending the blitz from the get go on this game.

This game seems to fall on a couple of things. We must shut down McNabb and Westbrook...a tall order. Bledsoe and our OL must remain composed in a madhouse atmosphere. I gotta admit...I don't like our prospects this week.

I agree it is going to be a tough game in a hostile place. I think if Dallas can keep it together over the 1st qrt we will be alright. Should eagles get off to a fast start it is going to be tough to win. Games like this with high emotions you must weather the storm.
